Looks like part of the seal is still on the axle as well. Pry it off with a screwdriver, crowbar, cat's paw, or whatever other prying tool you wish.

That looks like the whole seal to me. There should be rubber around the inside of that metal to seal against the spindle.

 

They are, they just take more force and bigger tools.

 

that's what i was asking and hoping ... just didn't want to go ripping something off that i shouldn't

if i wasn't in a time crunch and running around trying to find parts and tools this would have been a fun learning experience

 

sweet ... going to ford to get axle oring seals, hub seal, and parking brake pads while I'm at it ... might as well overnight some new rotors and pads lol

You are going to get raped ordering that **** from the dealership. The brake shoes will be $100 when NAPA has them for $50. And there is a good chance the dealership is going to have to order that **** anyway. ....and if you don't have a good rim to run......

 

Autozone rotors are like $50. And there is probably $40 worth of steel there LOL.

 

probably getting ebc's .. cheaper than powerslot but still good stuff

 

will check napa for the shoes thanks ... stealership has the seals

 

oh and according to most everyone .. the rim is hub centric so it should be fine

The problem here is that if the holes are ovaled, the rim can rotate around the hub and bang against the studs. This will put way more stress on the new studs. I replaced a rim that this happened to. I let someone borrow the rims/tires for inspection purposes and his studs were smaller so he used his lug-centric nuts and ovaled the holes.

 

bull ****. on a modern sportbike, there isnt anything that cant be replaced in an hour. everything is thought out and engineered, and only 2 special tools are needed. When I work on a truck and look at some of the horrible places they put sensors and other **** I want to smack the **** out of whoever threw that design together. You cant even see the sparkplugs in most cars anymore.
