its aimed at SUV drivers for the most part. mine qualifies, i looked into it pretty hard, its just still not worth it to buy a brand new car.

Yeah, but how much cheaper and how many miles are on it. I'd take the 15000 less miles for a couple grand. Plus the new TDI just came out this year.

truth. i know that idea was tossed around in congress, i wonder why it didnt happen

guy from my work got a new kia for $4000 brand new - you actually drive off the lot with equity in your car instead of instant depreciation lol

I will support ford. GM - **** them they got what they deserved. Chrysler produced so much junk - besides rams/jeeps and a few other vehicles.
I guess it makes sense that they would source parts where they are made. I still don't think the foreign car companies need the support. I also think Chrysler was the only one making decent cars the last 10 years. There hasn't been a ford or gm sedan I would buy in a long time.

And I have been rough on it......I beat that lil bike pretty good and am rough on the clutch........steep climbs and deep mud.......plus I use it as my practice wheelie bike and I don't clutch it up well so it has taken a lot of abuse.....

so have at it....
the amount of slack is sort of a personal opinion thing, how ever much you like. as long as theres SOME slack.

the only thing that beats up clutches is slipping them when you first take off from a dead stop. and revving the engine while at a stop with the clutch pulled in. wheelies dont hurt the clutch at all. climbs and mud only do if you slip the clutch a lot while doing it.

I never thought of it that way. Drive in with a pile of **** and come out with a brand new compact car for almost nothing. Good deal. I really like that new Kia Soul. Too bad the hatch area is so small.

its an interesting thing with that.. many foreign cars are built here, but the money still goes to a bank account in japan. but many domestic cars are built in mexico or canada now, but the money goes to a US account.

like covering the clutch in a car.....I should've known that......finding neutral on my bike is a pita but I will keep that in mind as well.....

It still stimulates the us economy and provides support to the suppliers ... the suppliers are probably a much larger employment base than you realize ... the foreign companies being here pretty much saved most of the suppliers when the big three almost destroyed them all with their bullshit management and union crap ... Kia and Hyundai are also offering 10 year bumper to bumper warranties - thats a pretty nice piece of mind - you can get a new car for $4000 and never have to worry about anything but general maintenance for 10 years

Yeah .. I haven't supported a lot of what the administration has done so far but I think this is really a good way for them to appropriate stimulus money ... it definitely has an instant positive efect for the average joe blow

On a $25k car like the VW, which won't depreciate an incredible amount, the $4500 plus the couple grand is probably less than it will depreciate.

They were definitely. Even when I left my last pace GM and Ford were really making it hard for them ... not just because of their own financial situation - but they operated like bullies, they said do it our way or we'll go somewhere else ... I still think they got what they deserved. Just my opinion based on what I saw and experienced after 5 years in the auto industry ... wish niner was hear to throw around another opinion ....
