ok, then you can finally give me the straight answer that the Lowes guy couldnt. When i checked out IR grills there, they seemed to be regular propane grills underneath, but a special diffusing looking thing for a cooking surface rather than a grate.

Is there more to IR than just the cooking surface part?

Id have to look at the owners manual to be 100% sure, but from what I remember the burners heat a ceramic plate directly over the burner. That plate heats the grates.

thats how my grill is but its not infared.. lol but 2 of my plates are broke, i need to replace em.. infact im out of propane for that matter. haha
