Hmmmmm, i think it depends on the guy. Some pick things up, others are oblivious and don't care to listen.

my issue is I have to listen, but it's never worth it.......blah blah blah me me me blah blah blah......I wish I could tune them out but I listen hoping for something important......no such luck yet

You can always pretend to listen. I do that. I'm great at it...just throw in some "yes"..."absolutely"..."ofcourse" intermittently.
