i keep hearing some bullshit about tampa adopting bike week the same time daytona is going on. will one of you native's verify any truth in that?

 

Cannot verify..but I live here and haven't heard that one...I know we have started a bike week here but it's not the same week/ weekend.

 

Last year was the first year they had this and it was not the same week as far as I can remember, I think it was about 2 weeks before or after the Daytona event. It was held in the Ybor City part of Tampa and was fairly successful if I remeber what I heard correctly. Not huge but it takes time for the word to spread and the crowds to catch one. I would think in a few more years it will become a decent event. I never did get to any events at the one last year but assuming it happens again, I hope to get down there and see how it is first hand.

Out of curiousity...why is it bullshit that there is an event in Tampa?

There are bike gathering events all across the country, why would this one be any different?

Ybor City did have a Bikeweek on September of 2002, it was
the first one, actually it was a four day event. there was a
pretty large crowd. I think it was said that this will start being
a yearly event, will see later on this year

we should do it in tampa the same week as bike week .thats the gossip that i thought i heard .no traffic ,no cops(well not manyfor at least a day or two)some body hook it up
