stoppie crashes

All you rollin stoppie foolz...

Last night I was getting up really really fast to roll my stoppies. Kept rolling them a little and a little further. Im guessing somewhere close to 40 feet. Well, last one of the night, I got going really fast, hit the brake, got up, rolled for a ways, and then tapped it just a hare too hard. Flipped over going really freakin fast and just slaaaaamed onto the ground. Im so glad I was practicing on a dirt road, or I would have been messed up.

All I got was some gravel in my hands, the wind completely knocked out of me, and bloody knees. I think Im the only one who does this on dirt roads. You guys who do this on pavement... have you ever wiped out going really fast rolling a stoppie? After that crash I think I would almost consider wearing a helmet, cuz I hit really freakin hard. If I had hit my head, I think it could have been bad.

Re: stoppie crashes

On a Mtnbike, not a streetbike.

If you guys dont believe me, I stunt on dirtroads. 35-40 foot stoppies. Maybe I can get someone to video it. I just dont have a good video camera. My digi camera takes vid, but its kinda crappy quality.

Actualy, I will try to get some vid of it right now.

Re: stoppie crashes

If you put vid up thats cool. If not I am not calling you a liar.. Who am I to judge that.

Re: stoppie crashes

just for fun...

This is the dirt road that I usually stunt on. I do circles wheelies on paved roads though. Everything else is mostly dirt.

Dont have many pics unfortunatly. I usually ride alone. I ride every single day, and riding alone I have plenty of drive to get better and better. No highchairs though... though I dont really plan on practicing them. I think Im too big to get my feet up and between my hands on the bars. I can bearaly do it when Im on 2 wheels let alone one.

Stoppies, coasters, one handed, no handed, circles. Those are my tricks mainly. just perfecting no handed, circles and stoppies now.

once your up close to the BP the grip doesnt matter quite as much. I use my own bounce more than a fist full of brake to get it up, so I can do pretty nicely.

Im almost worried to try them on paved roads again after last night though. It wasnt because of the dirt road that I flipped I dont think.

Re: stoppie crashes

yeah, i've flipped a few fast ones before, and it sucks pretty much.

you just gotta learn how to fall, i take my feet off the pedals first, then my hands and put my right hand down first, then my right knee, and just try to roll once or twice on my back.

P.S. i've done stoppies on gravel too, it's not much harder than on pavement

Re: stoppie crashes

usually when I flip, I can just jump over the handlebars and land on my feet. Even decently fast ones. Alot of the time if Im not going too fast I can even save the bike from falling by grabbing it while im jumping over. But this time was different. Maybe because it was at night and I couldnt really see that much around me, but I did like a superman and just pounded the ground.

How long you rolling them now Pete?
