Re: Regular 12 bar. Or "Extra Step- 12 bar"

My f4i has a hole in the rear seat.. I just dont like it.. im 6'0

my knee is always bent too much when i do that.. gotta straighten it out..

I love my 12 bar.. because its like a anti looping device.. except the one time it worked as a catapult and shot my bike 2 feet in the air..

ima test the water more on the f4i.. its a newer purchase.. still got to get used to it more and throw some risers on it.. still usin clip ons.. tho i have them straightened out..

If you dont use a 12 bar. then your input is meaningless.. no **** talk intended. iv seen many styles of bars, round etc..

Tho I did buy a cpl cutting boards.. cut them in half.. still need to drill some holes in them and put them on my gsxr.. see how the plastic works out..

and as for subframe..

**** all.. I build new ones- I could care less about demolishing more.. I got a gsxr for **** sake.. lol you should of seen when i broke that- it was in pieces.. looked like a soda can gettn shot by a gauge..

Now i got steel.. and its indestructable.. its just a matter of time on the f4i !!!! :YEAH

that was the original design.. i chopped and redid the 12.. its flawless now

Re: Regular 12 bar. Or "Extra Step- 12 bar"

don't put a step in it. unless you roll your toes stupidly over the front of the 12 bar, they won't hit the ground when you 12 foot in bar. i've never had it happen to me since 2003 to present.

that extra step in there, i would be worried about getting my foot caught up.

i use my 12 bar all the time for foot in bar, i like to do foot in seat (on top of the seat) because it looks pimp, but it destroys my left knee and after 3-5 circles like that my left knee hurts for a week. it's horrible on the joints that way. and i'm not about to cut a hole in my rear seat for that junk. tony has it like that on his 636 and it's not bad, but it's not as comfortable as foot in bar for me.

just cut a normal 12 bar, and make it past 12 so it's stable and give yourself enough room to put your foot in it. when you look at hte bike from the side, make sure the 12 bar doesn't stick up past the rear seat (don't let it be taller than the rear seat) or the 12 bar will crush your spine if you flip a stoppie. if you keep it lower than the rear seat then the rear seat hits you first.

My gsxr is 2 inchs past 12. and my f4i is 1 1/2..

everyone i ride with that does tight circles tells me to keep my foot flat on the bar.. but i keep it straight on the bar.. thats why i made my gsxr with the extra step.. im not afraid to 12 unexpectidly.. on the f4i.. im afraid when i hit 12. my foot is going to fall off.. ill try to keep in flat on it.. .. maybe a stomp pad or something needs to go on there for this..

and i dont keep my foot completly straight of course.. that'd **** ur back or knee up.. jus a lil bent.. im a tall, heavier guy so if i hit 12 wit a str8 foot id be in pain for months

I think you should brace the sub to the pillion peg mount or the tabs will break off the frame now

are you talking about keeping your leg straight? i'm confused all to hell on what you are talking about keeping a foot straight. i normally keep my foot pointed straight, i guess if that's what you are asking.

and if your foot hits the ground when you 12 with foot in bar, you are standing really goofy.

i rock tight circles foot in bar without problems and hit 12 all the time like that when i make a mistake. i've never had a problem with my foot slipping out of a 12 bar. if you use that box tubing it probably will, but with flat plate it won't.

Re: Regular 12 bar. Or "Extra Step- 12 bar"

Nice, our f4i's look alot alike.. I got my bars str8 out as well.. contaplating putin risers on the fizzle.. we'll see next summer.. i got some renthals on the gsxr and i love em'

I still got alot of testing out water to do.. I usualy do what tends to work good for people I ride with- a cpl people tell me im insane for havin 12 bars w/ a skill lvl as low as mine.. but im not scared of them at all.. more scared of hitting the pipes.. thats why i chopped and welded mine..

i guess i shoudlnt be too worried about my foot falling off the bar.. its always the what if scenario. but it hasnt.. for me. a 12 bar keeps and stabalized my bike when i get off balance .. i tend to jump.. and my bike goes scraping away.. str8 up.. its a nice site to not have ur bike bounce around on the ground when if you didnt have a 12.. it would !

Re: Regular 12 bar. Or "Extra Step- 12 bar"

skill level has nothing to do with 12 bar. if somone said that then i would put their skill in check. i've rocked a 12 bar from day 1 and never had a problem.
