ED its goin nuts with combos and stoppies, just blastin up and down the lot not letting one screw up get in the way.
John, those stoppies are nuts especially on that acceptional surface this past weekend. i did see the circles too... and webb was doin some stylish circles as well. im my eyes i would say legion is a competitive team, on the basis of each rider has their specialty tricks to classify them toward being a competitive rider but ina team event it would be over because the combined talents are coming out for the show purposes.

more cirlces this weekend than you can shake a stick at! made me dizzy watchin all those circles....however i do have to say borne to put ona good run for his individual run! and so did judd.
how long do you suppose it takes for the rider to determine if they know they're a show rider or a competition rider? long term and short term goals within the limitations on the length of the riding season...etc.
defeat the insecurities and make you limits but time will also play a factor....any one else have opinions?

I've said it before and ill say it now, circles are gay!
yes i do them, because i have to to be considered a good stunt rider. They have their place too, like when there is limited room and you want to throw it down or during a freestyle run to do a combo circle. But higher speeds, combos, more dangerous tricks is where i think we need to take things. Circles are quite possibly the most boring thing for a fan/spectator to watch!
On a side note: My favorite is a kid who can kill combo O's but CAN'T DO RESPECTABLE STOPPIE, or can't do a smooth wheelie OFF idle or doesn't even know HOW to do a rolling burnout!!! Usually that's the same guy who has blown out fork seals and the broken front brake lever that they never fix because "who needs the front of the bike to work, as long as my rear wheel and HB are good im a PIMP" LOL...
ok, rant off
point im getting at is get off the idea that circles are king **** and work on your WHOLE game! fans and spectators around the world will applaude you!!!
what's your take on that schwartz?!?! others?!?!?

I agree and disagree at the same time. Yes regular slow circle wheelies are boring as all hell, but when you start busting into fast combo circles the crowd loves it. You could see everyone stop and stare last weekend when Mana would go into his combo circle routine or when ***** and Gary would do fast low circles. I definitely agree though about taking an overall approach. I think a well rounded rider makes a good rider.
Schwartz you would be proud brotha. Started workin the stoppies down at king of the south with the new bike. Next step is to get a damper mount. **** gets a little shakey and hairy going in hot. Happy as hell with that bike though. The fricken thing rolls straight as hell. Got a new phone too, but all my numbers are gone. PM me you numba sukka....same for Judd and Keller and whomever else wants me to call them at random times of the day.

Yes, when a guy can get completely silly with the combos and actually JUMP to his next trick during slow ones like i saw mana doing, THAT is sick! and worth doing for a crowd, ONCE! (maybe twice)... then move on and do some faster stuff and some stoppies/burnouts! lol
circles are good to demonstrate your bike control, then get nuts and give the crowd something to put them on the edge of their seats!

maybe i'm just new school
take the last 256 video put up, dude was just doing straight line combos. totally lost my attention
althought i can watch circles all day, even the on idle ones.but saying "CIRCLES ARE GAY!" when your only talking about a FRACTION of the possibilities of circles, is like saying "COASTERS ARE GAY!" when your only talking about coasters from a 25 mph start speed.
now get someone coming in FAST AS HELL, rev-limiter the whole time, then slowing to down to a stall and going into a no hander or another trick. that's a totally different variation, but has been labled "gay" for fact it's a coaster.
it reallys depends on who your watching doing the circles, whose got the time and effort into them.
it's the same with looooooooong *** stoppies. your average, below BP, 20 mph start speed stoppie looks pretty gay to a crowd and is prolyl boring to them too.
but get someone FLYING in, rockin it rediciously high for 1/8th mile, that's a whole another story.
the difference is, there aren't many riders who have taken circles to the level at which they are entertaining to your average crowd (i enjoy any kinda circles really). once more and more poeple step-up, they'll see how much the rules may have changed IMHO
Re: My thoughts on This or That
i agree to all forms of this topic. this is a individual sport and that has awlays been my background with skating. you learn by your mistakes and from others, do others have a effect of your style? yes and no, but then why your trick vocabulary? its great to have influences at the same time, but then tweak a already existing trick.
from watching the sickest trick this weekend at king of the south, i saw that it was easier and showy tricks that received crowd recognition. ofcoarse that doesnt take a rocket scientist, its more of a question "who do you want to be recognized by? the general motorcycle public? stunters? sponsors?"
its almost like writing a story of you, finding your target audience then pursue. you will practice and drop countless dollars of your hard earned pay check into your hobby, well is it a hobby after that point? then to be bashed on trying to be a figure to a sport on the internet on others jelousy. well jelousy is a loose term but what else can it be. john makes a good point on a well rounded rider, circles stand out when they're called on as in a competition or what not. teams these days i see are delivering more attitude in their riding and then others are doing so with presentation and public relations.
i use to look at this as a contorversial sport and not my life. i mean, i spend my time of this sport behind my camera so obviously i have interests in filming. but when i talk to people telling them what i do for fun, its almost like its hit and miss. some understand and some dont, which is fine. it however turned into a passion after time of being blind when i was already in over my head and well into the process of being involved.
seeing all the technical aspects of how the bike works and law of gravity and physics and how easily it can be done to bash someones personal talent is sad. im not saying "hey be nice to the guy that can do 60 circles" but its how that rider wants to progress.
crowd pleasers=NICK HILL. that short little freak ona bike can work a crowd. or how bout good ol pyrotechnics. it almost seems like scooter trash needs a roadie crew for pyro set up.
im tired, does this makes sense? haha
