And that's awsome Pete.
I have had a blast when I jump on bike lately, because I am not stressen how I ride.
Well I stress a little, my old crippled *** can't afford to get jacked too bad...
I had thought you wanted to try to compete.

Re: My thoughts on This or That
can someone be neither? i ride flatland not because i want to win trophies, and not because i want to impress people, unless they see me.
i do it because i love it. can someone stunt bikes because they love to do so? i think so. when i buy a motorcycle, im not going to be a parking lot rider, or a highway rider. i will ride both just as equally. its fun knowing that you can do certain tricks of certain difficulties, but also fun knowign that you impress the hell out of those highschoolers on that bus by doing a wheelie next to them.
i plan to keep my hobies just that, hobbies. meant to be fun. when i stop having fun at something i do, ill give it a break, see if i liek it more later on. if i dont, all well. it was fun while it lasted.

oh for sure, but it's like rick from PBR put it on MTV.
"competition is just who woke up better this morning"
once i get to a certain level, i'd love to compete. but compete only for the fun of it. Not going for any super trophies, simpley because it's a hobby and i'm not getting paid for it.
now, if i was endorsed, or had a major sponser, i would compete like a SOM ***** because it would have to be my job (riding 40 hours a week kinda job)
but that's highly unlikely, kinda like counting on getting into the NBA after highschool.
it'd be nice, but best to have a solid backing cause it's not likely.

and neither does mine or your mom.
haha beat you to it......d!k.
Scott don't need a school of style, he's getting dialed in pretty good, and will be right up there with bournie after a bit. I still think my boy Scott is keeping the injury aspect of stunting on his mind. That's wut I did and that's why I don't have my bike anymore. Call me a ussy if you want but my health and fitness(yeah i know i'm fat...shut up) is worth more than being a big bike stunter. I'll stick to fiddies and yeah a quad....shut up old man.
BTW nice thread it really breaks it down for people

What's the difference?
Competitor:
Perfect example: Ryan Cramer, he deiced to be competitor and at one time was the best on the planet at what he decided to do. Was he a good show rider? Nope. He was good enough at what he chose to concentrate on to get him where he wanted to be, on the cover of magazines, invited to major events over seas. Pay attention here. Why was he invited and made the magazines? Because he was the upper %5 at it.
Show Rider:
A rider that has a bunch of tricks, energy, style, and is exciting to watch. We all know a Christ gets more attention then circle wheelies, from the general public. Burnouts! A guy can rock a no handed Seat Stander but the crowd is looken at the guy standing on his gas tank and the guy doing the burnout.
Point?
Where do you wanna be? Where do you wanna go? What skills are gonna help you get there?
It's not about going out a practicing random tricks. Know where you wanna go, have a direction and practice accordingly.
Not everyone can be a great competitor; anyone that spends the time can be a great show rider. If we are a group of guys trying to go some where by putting on shows we owe it to the venues and the sport to do that.
Lots of skill in the local area, I'd sure like to see this new group or riders go some where.

I believe im a great (or close to it) show rider and a decent comp rider. definately there is much room for improvement on my cometition riding and im working towards that. but im also keeping my show riding on point and trying to improve on it cause right now that is what is getting it done for me.
Great topic schwartz! knowledge is spreading!

watchin you in radford this weekend john i was thuroughly impressed. your stoppies are clean, fast and high! and lets not forget bout those leaned out stoppie 180's. the legion team showed their true colors this weekend in radford.
ED its goin nuts with combos and stoppies, just blastin up and down the lot not letting one screw up get in the way.
John, those stoppies are nuts especially on that acceptional surface this past weekend. i did see the circles too... and webb was doin some stylish circles as well. im my eyes i would say legion is a competitive team, on the basis of each rider has their specialty tricks to classify them toward being a competitive rider but ina team event it would be over because the combined talents are coming out for the show purposes.
then again first time i heard of and witnessed the legion team was at psychfest 05 and definately made a good impression.
as for the whole show vs. competitive riders....
establish your style.
GREAT THREAD FOR OPINIONS TO SHOW SCHWARTZ
