Second person I know personally in two years that had a bike stolen right in front of their eyes. Here is the deal, your selling a bike and have a ad in the Cycle Trader. The dude calls far in advance and gets directions because he lives far away and wants to be sure he wont get lost (this gives him time to check out your house and how the streets run in your area. He shows up and is a nice guy, very business like and friendly. In both situations he was alone, last year he drove up in a brand new Chevy pick up, this time he was on a 2000 929. He asks to take a quick spin down to the corner just to check out the bike......................and poof your **** is gooooone!! The truck and bike he left at the house.....stolen as well.
I know it sounds stupid to let someone ride your ****, but these guys are good and make it seem to be the deal breaker......"I gotta test ride it to be sure its ok or im not gonna buy it"

 

Wouldnt the brand new chevy truck be worth more? Why dump a stolen truck for a bike not worth nearly as much?

 

if he was alone how did he get all the vehicles home?... i would ask for a liscense or something to hold as collateral while he takes a ride, might help if he doesnt have a fake made up... nm aobut the first part, i just re-read it

 

ya if your gonna let someone test ride it then take there liscence..if its fake you still have there picture at least..i never let anyone test ride **** without cash in my hand cause ive watched friends let someone do that and they dumped it down the road...

 

NO TESTRIDES. DON'T BE STUPID. Some a$$hole tried that on me when I was selling my old R1. I told him he could ride it after he gave me a certified check. If within 10 minutes, if he brought it back in the exact condition it left, I would give his check back. The pre-paid test ride. He never called back. 24 minutes later, a dude who fell for it called to warn me and every other R1 in the paper..

 

Anyone wanna come do that with my truck?? Id be happy with an Insurance settlement...

I agree, no test rides....but sometimes when you wanna sell it you will let **** slide.

No idea whats going on, maybe the dude has a clear frame and needs the rest of the **** to make a good bike.

 

Theres always money to be made on a bike you dont pay for.. Parts bike, Stunt bike, track bike.. No one said it was ever gonna hit the streets again... You right tho.. Peeps let their guard down when they are itchin to make a sale.. You here about this **** everyyear..

sounds better then having your bike up for sale all season and having to sit around and wait for people to show up and look at it
