Tire patch question
Tire patch question
My bike is grounded. I picked up a screw in the back tire and it only has 2500 miles on it.
Should I patch it or plug it?
Would you trust either of them at 130 or with practicing standups?
Or do I need to quit being so cheap and buy a new tire?

just kidding. Hey, now that I'm working in Ann Arbor, what was that road, was it 36 or 63? I want to ride it today. Maybe even again this weekend if your up for it. Alot of good roads down here, well, not good, but a lot better than north of here. -Jake

You also have to look at how it went through the tire. If it broke into any of the belts I wouldn't use unless you wanted to learn burnouts or slow stuff. I have ran on plugged tires before and at high rates of speed but it is always in my the back of my mind when hitting triple digits. Like everyone else has said it is up to you.

I patch plug alot of tires here at work, and I've never seen one fail. However, there is a disclamer that they make us state on the repair order- "do not exceed 55mph for first 24 hours after repair. Do not ride over 85mph for extended periods of time thereafter." Hope this helps.

If I get that tire plugged I'd probably have time to ride this weekend.

Thanx for the help. I'll think i'll plug it and ride it until next year.
As Jake so happily pointed out, I doubt my 4 inch standups will stress it too much. Then i'll throw it in the street and let ya'll cheap idiots fight over it.
What shops in Flint plug cycle tires?
