Re: Damn I knew I should have bought a DODGE!!

Call me names & say what you want but I'll never own another one

Re: Damn I knew I should have bought a DODGE!!
Dodge makes some nice looking vehicles but their quality is for s h i a t t. I get access to warranty and quality numbers for about every manufacture and get to see the facts first hand.
Re: Damn I knew I should have bought a DODGE!!
Thats complete bullshit, and I would have to say you need to recheck the numbers. I worked on GMs and Chryslers for 12 years now and what your telling me is the 4l60 and 700r4 were good trans? Also window motors, blower motors, resistors, heater cores oh and the ever so popular GM ball joints and Half shafts come the **** on there all the same. Chrysler GM and Ford. You must be an engineer that looks at paper more then the real thing sorry but thats my thoughts
Re: Damn I knew I should have bought a DODGE!!
What planet are you from. Everyone I know jokes about Dodge quality, it's so old I don't even think about joking about it no more. It's funny you mentioned transmissions, one from about 25 years ago, but anyhow. Chryser is absolute crap in trannys. Dude I have a minor in stat's and look at this shiat and benchmark it, it's part of my job. Maybe you worked at some shell station changing oil for 13 years and thought you seen more of one than the other, I'm not sure. I just go by the data and facts, not some personal opinion.
It's pretty well know in the auto industry the private investment group that bought Chyrsler just wanted the dealship network (to sell to CHERY from China), Hemi rights, stowaway seating and the Jeep and mini-van lines. The rest will dye on a vine. Believe me, I'm not thrilled about it either because I want all American auto makers to survice personally.

Re: Damn I knew I should have bought a DODGE!!
You college guys are the reason the automotive industry is what it is, you spend more time looking at numbers then being in the field doing what it takes to improve ****. Benchmark my *** and btw what trans is from 25 years ago, the 700r4 or the 4l60e its the same thing just electronic and being used still today so why dont you get your facts straight! As for a shell station wrench changing oil you got me there thats what I do lmao, all I know is all you college ***** that read books but dont have the mentality to apply any of it are the cause of most american car makers quality issues. Just so you have an idea of what I do and what I have done, I am the guy that gets your stupid *** the stats to stare at all day and make your stupid assumptions!!!!
Re: Damn I knew I should have bought a DODGE!!
No prob, when your tranny blows out on your Dodge I'll come pick you up so no hard feelings.
Oh by the way, they are not the same transmissions. There have been 124 EWO's (engineering work orders) for changes in the two trannys. So basically the shell and some gears (although they are manf. differently now) are all that really remain the same.

Re: Damn I knew I should have bought a DODGE!!
I am not worried about any of my cars be it a dodge or a chevy or a ford breaking down due to the fact that I can fix anything on any of them. Thanks for the offer of picking me up though but I think I will be just fine. Oh and let me know when your new manufactured trans loses forward gears and it needs a rebuild I can probably hook ya up lmao. Oh and when have they been changed? I just rebuilt one from a nbs gm and its still a 700 internals. The 80 is diff but 60 is still using the same parts. Also I am not hear to flame back and forth just to state a fact that all you book guys need to get off stuntlife in your office and take a trip to the floor to see what happens in the real world not the computer world maybe spin a wrench to see how stuff works!

Well, I made all that s h i a t t up anyhow, just seen your were getting all fired up over nothing and thought I would egg ya on. I know a bit about trannys because I'm an engineering manager over 245mm, 258mm, 265mm, and parts of the 300mm torque converters. I worked on input shaft, input carrier, reaction carrier, sun gears, turbine shaft, oil pump shaft manufacturing also. Just know enough to tell if a problem is one of converters or a transmission. I did take transmission teardown training about 2 years ago and that was pretty cool. Working on trannys is not my bag of tee, the dammed manifold looks like something from outer space. Especially when some of our clutch material from on my torque converter gets in and clogs it. Quality is so good on all cars compared to the 70's and 80's everyone expects their car to get 200K with no problems. Anyhow, fun flaming for while.
Re: Damn I knew I should have bought a DODGE!!

Psst... Dan, you know my big Dodge? The one with 180k on the V10 that has towed all kinds of **** across the country up to 11,000 lbs, wheeled, submarined & hydrolocked at the Mounds, on 40's with 5.13's, and otherwise abused all its life?
Factory trans. Never been repaired.
Factory ball joints. Never been replaced.
Factory front axle u-joints. Never been replaced.
Factory ignition wires. Never been replaced.
Factory water pump, radiator, etc.
Front axle CAD still works.
Factory plugs only came out at 160k to release the water. No misfires.

I think the single biggest mistake that people make when they buy vehicles is not the manufacturer they choose, but rather in the vehicle they choose. People always underbuy and then use the vehicle beyond its reasonable capabilities. Half-ton trucks are the perfect example of this, as everybody runs out and buys Z71's, Hemi Rams, and F-150's to tow their toys around.
Bad idea.
Bikes and sleds are fine, but I just laugh at people who tow anything heavier than that with any kind of half-ton with a gas motor under six liters or gearing taller than 3.73 (diesels can run 3.55 effectively). Don't buy the minimum vehicle that will get the job done. I overbought at the time and yet I still look back and kick myself for not getting the dually for another $500 or whatever it was back in 1998. The CTD was a $5000 option at the time and gas was nice and cheap, or I would have picked up the oil burner as well.
