Exactly ... so you aren't addicted you just positively benefit from the side effects .... I am of the opinion something that occurs naturally is much better to put in your body than tylenol pm or ambien or some other man made pill with many harmful side effects to make you sleep.

Everyones different. I read online about how the nuerons in addicts brains fire different than someone who doesnt have an addictive personality or some **** like that lol. The fact that their nuerons fire differently make them addicts before they are addicted. So while some people can use and experiment recreationally, others cant. I know plenty of people who experimented and were fine and I know plenty of others who got hooked and died or are still hooked or in recovery.

 

So what is it when you go to the doctor about something and they hand you a prescription to take indefinitely?
How is it any different than them handing out Proton Pump Inhibitors to all the people that get heartburn every day (caused by all the over the counter crap like Tylenol our society is force fed) and saying take this for the rest of your life (they depend on it to be able to live without acid reflux daily), never mind the side effects like malabsorption of nutrients, constipation, or causation of b12 deficiencies. If those same people could go buy a herbal or naturally occurring alternative without those side effects (since our bodies weren't made to process all those man made chemicals) why not take that route - seems like the more logical choice?

Youre getting high on weed - youre not getting high on heartburn meds. Granted youre still dependent on heartburn meds but not as a means to get high - as a means to not have heartburn. 2 different things IMO. How'd we get back on the drug debate lol. OMR's gonna love this

 

well, lemme reword that. if u take something as a "hobby" and ur body starts aching and **** once u stop, then thats dependence, cuz if u'd never taken it before, then ur body would be fine.

i like weed. i no longer do it, but i have nothing against it. but i do believe that for many it's a gateway drug, that it does make some people lazy, etc. but, since that doesn't apply to everyone, i'm on the fence on this one. for me, i'm glad i did it during college. i needed a hard relaxer after working/studying so much, and exercise wasn't gonna cut it. i needed the green, baby.

I agree. But alcohol is the same way. Alcoholics don't function properly. There was a programmer at my last job that stank like a bottle every morning, he would get the shakes and get irritable and was very unproductive. There is a wide cross section of people that can be made for an argument both ways.

I was just making a point based on his observation of dependence.
To make it more like apples to apples, how about cancer patients that are given oxycontin - one of the most addictive and dangerous synthetic drugs out there. Many patients feel marijuana is a much safer and desirable alternative.

Personally I think a lot of it has to do with drug companies not wanting to lose profits.

I agree somewhat. Oxy's are highly addictive but theres a difference if youre taking them to get high or youre taking it to deal with pain from cancer. Granted that even tho u start taking them to deal with the cancer, you'll eventually catch a habit which sucks. I get what youre saying tho. We could take it to the PAR threads but I like when OMAR gets involved lol.
