Eh thats just a big debate. I think it has many beneficial aspects, especially medically related. Alcohol and prescription drugs are much much more damaging too, they are more physically addicting and have much greater negative health side effects.
I wish my alcoholic uncle was just a pot head

But the whole argument here is that it's already legal in 13 states. Why not regulate and tax it like alcohol and use that huge opportunity for tax money to fund stuff like education and decreasing some of these deficits we are racking up. Not to mention it would save money on wasted law enforcement time, allow them to concentrate on actual criminal activities or harmful stuff like heroin.

I disagree. But I am sure our life experiences have differed which is why our opinions differ.

Everyones got their own opinion but IMO its definitely a gateway drug. If you never smoked weed you would never pick up coke or dope or anything hard and just try that. You start with something small that leads to other things for some people. Some people just have that addictive personality and they get hooked before they're hooked. Some people could use recreationally.

I see where you're coming from. I sit and think about well if people are doing it anyway why not just have the government take control and just tax it and regulate. But I know I was giving him **** about it the other day but I do agree with OMR that "drugs are bad". How can you say to kids that this drug is ok but these ones you can't touch? In one sense we're already doing that with alcohol cause it is " a drug" but not used in the same sense that weed is used. Where alcohol is used more of a social drug and pot is used solely to achieve that high. Imagine the counter affects of pot being legal, where people are truly addicted to it and have to take it everyday in order to function like many already do. Then the government is being blamed for having kids addicted to pot. It will just make it that much easier for kids to get their hands on it. I don't have or want kids but in circumstances like this a really do think about the children.

god and bad drugs depend on their addictiveness

im addicted to weed, enough that i cant deny it. but still not half as addicted as an average cigarette smoker.

I never tried anything hard after trying weed.

Many people I know tried harder stuff first then never did anything again but still smoked.

But there are no addictive attributes to pot. The only reason pot is considered a drug is because someone in the past 100 years decided to say it is. How is it any different than Caffeine which occurs naturally, is addictive, and has physical and mental affects on people? It is just a naturally occurring plant.

you would not physically get ill from withdrawal like alcoholics or synthetic or prescription drug users though .... there is a difference

also do you still go to work, provide for your family and are a semi-positive functioning member of society? yes ... most alcoholics are not, most drug users are not ...
