Omr Subcage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Omr Subcage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The cummins isx motors really pull hard , and are probably the nicest motors we have been getting lately . But our company is getting like California smog models , and you have to do a emmissions regeneration test to burn all the soot out of the exhaust .
It's fucked up cause , cummins has it to flash lights on the dash when its time , and the engine actually derates itself . And you are given a certain amount of time to do the test , or the engine will eventually stop running , making the driver possibly stuck somewhere on the road .
The test is fairly simple , but the process involves , leaving the truck run in nuetral at a somewhat high idle for almost 50 minutes , and the computer heats the exhaust system to like 1700 degrees !!!!

5 inch exhaust, lifter pump, efi live tune, egr block off and a fewother little things . . . now if only the allison could handle it and not **** out
Re: Omr Subcage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Neal just took down DZ!!!
I was letting this go since I did not handle your suspension Neal, but I do believe you are correct in that this was two sided. Since you both played a role, you both deserve a penalty.
Handled.
Handled.
Re: Omr Subcage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
most new diesels have the capability to make huge power with a tune. the duramax's can make 800 hp+ for less then 1200 bucks

Re: Omr Subcage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Regeneration can only really occur by itself if the driver is on the highway . And it takes a while to go thru a complete cycle .
If a driver does alot of stop and go driving , the system never has time to do a full regen , and the engine derates and throws up dash lights .
You then have to manually do the regen . .

Re: Omr Subcage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The idea is to turn carbon (exhaust soot) , into carbon dioxide , inside the exhaust , using a filter . And using heat to do it . Burning everything .
Re: Omr Subcage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first 6.4 Fords had a shitty tune and would litterally shoot flames out the exhaust. That's why you see venturi or perforations on new diesel truck tail pipes to keep the tip cool.
Re: Omr Subcage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first time i did a regen on a cummins , i did it in the shop . I put a rubber exhaust hose on the exhaust tip .
It went for about 5 minutes thru the first stages , before the rubber exhaust hose started melting and smoking from all the heat .
I'll never do that again
We have to run the engines outside for the tests .

Did you know that if you run low on the blue tec fluid for GM's you can just **** in the tank? It is chemically the same.
Re: Omr Subcage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually , i really didn't put the hose on the exhaust tip .
I got a jack stand , and layed it on it's side . Then i put the hose on the jack stand and pointed it at , and near the tail pipe exhaust tip .
The ventilataion system in our shop is in the ground , and creates a vacuum thru the hose .
The heat coming out of the tailpipe was so hot , that when the exhaust fumes were coming out and being sucked into the hose , it was melting the end of the hose , and smoking .
The exhaust fumes even got the jackstand really really hot . That gives you an idea as how hot the program makes the exhaust heat up so much that it basically burns and vaporizes the carbon in the exhaust and pushes it out the tailpipe .
