The wire mesh floor is $160 cheaper. That's a pretty good deal.

Basically I want to be able to carry my 954 and f4i at the same time without them touching. They are just under 3' wide each at the cages/bar ends so I figure if they each hang over the side 1', and there is 1' between them, a 5' trailer should work.

Yup. It was steel mesh on a 5x8. Id say the ramp dimensions would be 5x3.5

That mesh stops passing air at about 30 mph

You'll need to do something to get the tie downs out far enough. Mine are set up a little too close to the edge and a little far back right now. I need to move the chocks. I have negative tongue weight at the moment. I throw 4 cinder blocks on the front to hold her down.

Question is how much would a sheet of good durable material to cover up the mesh be? Then again the only time I would ever need that would be if I was driving to ATL or Daytona/ FL in the winter and bringing more than 3 bikes and not being able to borrow an enclosed trailer.

mine stores vertically along the side rail. theres not that much space under there. when the trailer wheels go into a low spot (like the end of a driveway) the back of the trailer will be only a couple inches off the ground

Yeah, I could bolt on some tie down bars or something. If I end up buying one used and making my own I will probably put a lock box, spare tires, and a place to put a fiddy on it.

It would have to have a notched axle where the cross beam is lower than the axle centerline.

I'd have to see how it tows. My truck punches a pretty big/tall hole in the air on the highway. And the only time I would be using the trailer on the highway would be if the bed had 2-3 bikes in it.

if they hang over by 1' then you'd need tie down points that stick out a foot. 2 caged bikes on my 5x8 open they have about 2-4" between the bikes, and about 2" between the cage and the trailer side rails.

If you get a 5' trailer with side rails a foot of space is not happening.
