I disagree. I guess we could argue all day who is to blame, it's a vicious cycle us for consuming or the oil/auto companies for supplying .... CRD is the new future :YEAH

Niner, would u say the fuel efficient vehicle change is due to consumer demand? looks like it to me.

Word. Too may people don't want to be held responsible for their choices. Housing market, buying big cars, running up their credit cards, etc.

100% due to customer demand. The focus plants are running at capacity and they need to retool plants so they can make more because demand is growing and their capacity is tapped out. They see an opportunity to sell their european cars, but they will have to make tools to produce the parts in north america due to the prohibative costs of shipping the parts over.

history repeating itself. fuel efficient cars is why toyota became so big in the early 80's here in the states. american car companies were making huge and heavy V8's, like they have been this past decade. now they have to go back down to fuel efficient cars. anybody know how long the 80's oil crunch lasted? we can probably expect the same this time around. in another 15-20 years, big cars will be in again.

yes we do. vehicles cant get as small and efficient as they should be due to safety standards. From reading on the mini truck forums, ive learned that japan has hundreds of models of cars and trucks that get 50 mpg easily but we'll never see them because they arent safe enough.

Re: OMR SUBCAGE [subframe cage]

So this time next month I will owe $1400 on the DRZ (17 months after buying it), and only owe on my truck, house, and education otherwise. I figure I can knock out the DRZ by october 1st, unless I get some side $ form hustling parts or get a better paying job.

thats a risk every motorcyclist is willing to take. I think the govt should start forcing soccer moms to take that risk too instead of the opposite.
