its going for $460 at the home depot near my house. i researched the clarke and it's going to suit my needs. i'll get it with regulator gauges and the bottle and a helmet for $450, shipped. i think it's a good deal and Sears carries parts for it in case it needs replacement parts or they are available online at weldingdepot.com. plus a lot of professional welders recommended it.

i thought about that but its so much more money and i cant seem to find **** in my area, which surprises me with all the ship builders around here. i'm sure a lot of welders sell their old **** to their friends though.

Re: omr subcage

i hated that too but i've been doing pretty good at holding'er steady at my part time job. i started off on an auto darkening helmet but after a while, i just didnt like the reaction time. i know it's super fast, like 1:25,000 of a second but still, i just didnt feel comfortable with it. i'd like to try a high quality one though. maybe that'll change my mind, but those ******* are in the hundreds. i also heard that the solar charge is safer cuz the battery operated ones go out without warning.

For how much I am going to use a welder I'm not too worried about going arc blind. I can see if you were using it all the time how you might worry about that. Don't the visors default to dark when the batteries go out?

i dont know for sure. i wonder about that myself. i just dont want to deal with a damn battery if i can use the sun for free. i heard that even a flashlight or indoor light charges it. not sure how true that is though.

Pretty sure the blinding source of light that the mask blocks can run a solar cell pretty well.

I dont want to use anything. I never used anything before my accident, and my lip is completely healed on the surface. I dont know why it peels, i think the chapstick has something to do with it
