Breakfast Club
Re: Breakfast Club
Diesel transmissions usually lack internal pressure, which fries the plates inside and other components that are weak in an Auto transmission, which in an auto trans PRESSURE is the key. But Allison transmissions have the same problem, and so do Dodge... but Dodge has other problems aside from the trans. I guess when I see all my friends who own diesels go through trans and tons of misc repairs it's disgusting. I mean, maintenance on a diesel is extremely cumbersome compared to gas motors.
Re: Breakfast Club
Diesels make more sense if you tow frequently and/or drive over 12,000 miles a year. Everyting is super heavy duty and like any other vehicle you need to keep up on maintenence or it will bite you in your ***. Either your friends abuse the **** out of their trucks, don't take care of them properly, or they all have shitty luck.
Re: Breakfast Club
First off.. the playgirl mag was an honest mistake. I just followed the link you provided for me to order what I THOUGHT was Playboy. And the lube is multi-purpose... (A) Lube and (B) Sanitizer. Greatest invention EVER so then after I'm done ballin your gf in the *** it's already clean when I'm done!!!

Re: Breakfast Club
Maybe 3 of my friends that have diesels actually use them for their purpose, tons of miles and towing. Other than that, all my other friends just drive them b/c diesels make tons of power and they don't tow a damn thing with it. And the problem with all of their trucks is very simple: they upgraded them so much, but slacked on the trans b/c they knew rebuilding/beefing up a diesel transmission is EXTREMELY expensive b/c it is a heavy duty trans. I can take my trans apart, put in a shift kit and move around a few check ***** and VOILA... my transmission is about 1000 times stronger than it was before. I guess bottom line of my debate is a diesel is an expensive truck, that costs much more than a gas truck to maintain but makes a **** LOAD OF POWER.
Towing with a built up diesel puts even more stress on the transmission. It should have been one of the first things they did. My trans has a billet lock up converter that was $1900 of the cost of the rebuild. The rest of the build was putting the 6.0L transmission cooler in, replacing the tail housing of the trans with a steel piece instead of the factory aluminum, replacing gears and adding clutch plates to the clutch pack. They also put in a new valvebody so it shifts nice and firm without excessive slippage.
Bottom line-any vehicle is expensive to build up and you have to have the right ballance of parts or the weakest link is going to fail. You build a gas engine to 600hp and 600+ Ft/lbs and it's trans is going to **** the bed if you don't do more than a shift kit as well.
Re: Breakfast Club
Yup, your friends are just not smart then. Diesels make a lot of torque which if you don't build trans too=slipping trans and heat and failure. Ashift kit doesn't make a reans any stronger, it just make the rans shift faster so there is less slipping of the clutch pack and less heat built up. I'm sorry but you don't make the actual trans any stonger.

Oh well... and I wish I had the problem of my truck being 600hp!

That's Mike M and that cheating SOB Nags. I was ahead of him and all of a sudden he jumps like 8,000 posts.
