Re: Breakfast Club
Had a compression check done before I bought it... it's just as good as the day the engine was built.
The 350 engine is bullet proof... not to mention it's a Vortec. The engine runs incredibly strong, strong enough to where I could put a supercharger on it tomorrow and not worry one bit. And even if the engine does blow it's FRACTION of the cost to rebuild it NOT to mention I can do all the work myself. (Other than the machining) And I've never replaced the transmission so lets say that blows up tomorrow, that means I got 150,000 on 1 transmission vs. a diesel where the trans went out at 70k. (I have a half dozen friends who have already replaced their diesel trans under the 100k mark). And even if my transmission does blow up tomorrow, I'm spending MAX $1000-$1500 to replace it vs. a trans for a diesel. The only thing that I'm sacrificing right now is power... other than that, my truck looks just as good if not better than any other lifted truck out there.

Re: Breakfast Club
ya that sucks i still have a tender spot on my left palm!!
Re: Breakfast Club
Ok, well then you spent the $1000 to beef it up now and it will STILL blow up at 200,000 miles and you'll end up paying another $4000 for a new one or $3000 for a rebuilt one all while I spent $1000 for my trans and it will be good until 300,000 miles along side the engine.

Guy I bought if off of spent $4700 to beef it up. Brian has a "if you can break it I will fix it for free" policy. Lots of competative tractor puller run 900HP and 1500 lb/ft through the same trans with no issues. Also there isn't anything majical about diesel transmissions. The ford uses the same trans in the powerstroke and the v-10.
