Re: Old Man Roger,Phil,Marshall and Colt
that will never ever stay in.... just be careful because if it falls out while you are riding and you dont notice, it will only take about 2 seconds and you are gonna need a whole lot more than a little bit of welding..
Re: Old Man Roger,Phil,Marshall and Colt
I was wrong. Its called a heli coil, its not rubber and it basically does the same thing that your talking about. see.
Re: Old Man Roger,Phil,Marshall and Colt
helicoils are good... just make sure that the helicoil is flush with the case under the drain plug or it will leak. if you are going to jb weld anyting, make sure that you turn it upside down and clean it really good with brakleen or gumout first and let it dry. scratching the surface around the cracks with a grinder or some 80 grit will make the jb weld stick better.
and dont get itchy to ride while that **** is drying. make sure that it is totally dry beforeyou turn it back over and put the oil back in.
i HATE jb weld.

I already fixed it once. I only waited 20 minutes before riding it
So with one of those I have to rethread the hole then I put that in ? then I just get a bolt to fit it?
Re: Old Man Roger,Phil,Marshall and Colt
you need to use the drill in the kit and then tap the hole with the tap in the kit. then you put the helicoil on the tool from the kit and wind it into the hole. be careful that when you back the tool out, the little tab on the helicoil doesnt break off and fall into the engine. you can buy a helicoil that is the same thread pitch and size as your stock drain plug.

sounds complicated. I think I'll just bring the whole engine to my neighbor. He used to be a harley mechanic so Im sure he can fix it.
