Why is my bike doing this?????
Why is my bike doing this?????
I went out today to practice a little bit and my bike started acting up. I just did some wheelies and some endos and the speedometer just quit working. The tach was working fine but the speedo just registered 0. Well i pulled over and messed with some wires and took off again. Well it worked fine so i was like oh well. Then all of a sudden the speedo went from 55(speed i was doing) to 10, 24, 0, 50, 20, 0, and then stopped again. I pulled over and messed with the harness and then left and it seemed to be fine. It was fine all the way home. NOw my question is, what would be causing this and is this a sign of something that might be failing? It started after i did an endo and came down harder than usual. Thanks in advance

Alright, I had something sorta like this happening, you want to get some contact cleaner, not for your eyes but for electrical contacts. Anyways disconnect the wires coming from your speed sensor all the way up to the speedo and spray the stuff into each of them.
There are probably a bunch of different places you can disconnect the wires, so it really helps if you have a shop manual, if you don't though then just try to trace the wireing and spray everything in sight.
I was caught in the rain a couple times right before this started happening with me so I'm pretty sure it had something to do with moisture getting into places it shouldn't be.
