i think we need people like dan in the sport because he will try anything but u have got to execute your tricks to win comps and if u reward people for just crashing there bikes thats what u will see in the comps i was there and i dont know how i would have picked to win but it would have been someone who made a clean run

How many stunt riders out there do you know of right now that are doing switchback burnouts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! only one last time I checked & previous to this comp i've already seen an ape hanger skitch done by several riders on the west coast so to me the switcback burnout off the rev limiter successfully was the sickest thing on the track that day then finishing with a backwards wheelie to flip gets my vote any day

sickest trick

If Mark would have pulled off the circle in the actual competition he probably would/should have won, but he didnt.

I dunno.....2-up scrapin 12's looked pretty sick to me!!!!

Mellen,

Did any of your boys get that on vid. The 2 cams we had runnin both missed it.

There were a lot of sick tricks goin on in that comp, I think everyone deserved to win. Mark's circle, evasives trick, dans trick, the one hand skitch ur no hand sit down chris and daves 2up scrape... all were . All I know is I would hate to be the judges. Def a really tough decision.

I WAS NOT THERE, so I will start out by giving away my credibility.

I think that if you are going by a crowd pleaser, crashes are included. If you are going for gymnastics perfection of trick, crashes should count against you. I remember when FMX was a 1/2 time event at the Arenacross, etc there was a dude that would intentionally crash, the crowd would go nuts and he would win. FWIW

It sounds like Dan had the crowd on it's feet yelling, crash or no crash, that kicks ***!! Props Dan.
I feel that is why people watch us stunt, the "Oh ****" factor

Here's my winner...

I'm not just picking Steve and Cat because they're on the same team as me but because this is by far one of the sickest 2 up tricks i have ever seen before... Plus the crowd was going crazy the entire time they were on the track...

I'm not a stunna so I don't know if it counts but from the spectators view: Its seems like it would be really hard for someone to judge a "sickest trick" cause it wasn't sickest burnout sickest wheelie or even sickest skitch.... so u really can't say what the "sickest trick" was....cause all of that **** was sick!!!

Em said it best right here.....

On another note in this case, even tho Dan was off the hook in performance, if we were in a professional sport which is where everyone is working towards getting... it would not have realisticaly even placed....as far as technicality, originality ect. it should have gone to Steve and Cat in my opinion.

-Mark from MPZ tried circle wheelies every attempt and finally hit it on the 5th try.....mad props and awesome talent, but how many tries were you supposed to have. I know they told him to try again and he hit it, but his actual attempts had expired and I am sure he was then doing it for the sake of nailing it, and he did.

yeah the way it was set up is that you got 2 attempts to do your sickest trick..........took me a few more tries than that to get the circle, so when i did make it around it didn't count.
gotta thank Duk for pushin me to stay out there and keep tryin it for the crowd..............to hear their reaction when i made it around was worth more to me than any trophy (still want one though :D )

ok ok!

my opinion!! first of all!! we were all told before the event even started that the SICKEST trick event was not based on crowd reaction, but on what the judges thought.. put ear muffs on and you come away with simple facts.. Dan is a GREAT Rider!!! but he wrecked.. if his trik was a switchback burnout, he should have stopped the burnout before wrecking.. but would it have honestly been as exciting had he not wrecked?? maybe it would have, but not as impressive as a guy hangin off the back of a bike with one arm to the point where even his shirt was dirty!!! one way or the other ya know!! crowd reaction says that dan won... but only cuz he wrecked! execution vote goes to the hangin dude! lol... if we are judgin it based on crowd reaction, im eneterin every sickest trik comp and doin wheelies into RICK (PBR) .. we will split the money!! lol.. its not about what you try, its about what you do.. give the prize to the rider that EXECUTES!!! if you wreck or dont get the job done.. sorry, have nice day... how do you justify rewarding someone for NOT COMPLETING A TRIK? and tell those who did better luck next time.. like i said, dan is an awesome rider/entertainer, but i think wreck = DQ . nuff said..
