Re: Gas....????

Here in Texas its 99+ degrees outside, so for summer im gonna run a higher octane, however.. if you live in a southern region you must also not that different gas is sold over different sessions. In summer here gas distributers sell a summer blend of gas. Its made to not ignite early, and vice versa (winter blend). Either way, dont be a fool.. listen/feel what your engine does, and make the appropriate changes.

Re: Gas....????

My F3's manual says the minimum is 85, so I think I'm just fine with 87

Re: Gas....????

Wow that was a lot to read. All I know about this is when octane goes up-spark knock goes down. There....that was easy....

Re: Gas....????

All the people talking about cost difference are trippin...

- average bike holds around 5 gal of gas

- premium is avg about 20 cents more than regular

- .20 X 5 gal = extra $1.00...Wow! really going to break the bank!

- even in a car with 15 gal tank it's only $3 extra per tank

exactly. what i was thinking is that it's what, 15 cents more per gallon for high octane. so, my stuntbike holds about 3 gallons, so 3x15=45, so 45 more cents......that doesn't seem like much money considering every time i change the oil i put an extra 2$ (1 quart) of oil to save the motor from wheelies...so why not spend .45 more cents to save the motor from detonation?
