im driving down locust ave, about 2 blocks from home with my girl on the back. im behind this big van making a right turn so i go around him, and out of nowhere this dude delivering pizzas cut in front of me and i go right into the front of his bumper . she got thrown off the back and hit her head on the pavement. i went down on my left knee. luckilly the cops put him at fault and i also believe they wrote him a few tickets. i made out ok, but now my girls parents hate me. this just had to happen on the day they came down from 2 hours away to visit her for the weekend. i wanted to kill this pizza guy so bad man. my ride is ok, the left side is a little banged up, and the left peg and shift lever got messed up, but for the most part i think its ok. i havent started it up yet cause i was in the ER for about 3 hours but it didnt look too bad.

im just so pissed man. if she wasnt on the back i wouldnt have been quite as angry, but she did get hurt which infuriates me to no end and now i believe im going to have to deal with some as$hole parents. her father thinks i should have called him up to tell him what happened. what an ***! i dunno i guess im just upset at the whole thing and i wish she wasnt with me when it all went down

 

Damn that sucks not only is your bike messed up but your girl got hurt and her parents are not happy. I guess I just wish you good luck. I try to remember that it wasn't your fault and theres was nothing you could do to stop it.

People that are not on bikes need to realize that other people are and what can happen.

1. you say you passed a car while he was making a turn. sounds to me like you mean that you went around him in the other lane while he was making a turn. if this assumption is correct you ****ed up, not the pizza guy.
2. you should have called her parents if you know them and knew their number.

it IS legal in New Jersey to pass on the left when the vehicle in front of you is turning right. i did not cross into the opposing lane of traffic. and i dont know her parents well, and i certainly dont know their number. i was trying to talk to cops, deal with my own injuries and deal with hers, her parents were the last thing on my mind.

Glad you made it out o.k. Wuz your girl wearing a helmit? I hope she's o.k. I see were your coming from as for the parent situation, got way to much going on right then and there to deal with as opposed to getting ahold of her folks. And in your defense, obviously he was doing things legally, otherwise he'd have been cited at fault for the accident. Best of luck to ya!
