Changing sprockets affect on odometer?

Alright, I know that going down 1 in the front is a 6.66% change and going +2 in the rear is a 5% affect so total this would result in an 11.66% change on the speedo. I understand this but would it have the same 11.66% affect on the odometer as well? I mean if I ride 100 miles, will it read on my odometer 111? Thanks.

Aight thanks, so it's really not that big of a deal then right? I mean I plan on only going +2 in the rear which is a 5% difference so after 5000 miles or so it will only read a few hundred miles extra right? Anyone reccommend a good strong sprocket for me. Thanks again.

Re: Changing sprockets affect on odometer?

I'm confused on how changing sprockets affects odometer/speedo readout. On my old gsxr the speedo was cable driven off the front tire. No matter how the gearing was changed the speedo would still be accurate as long as the front tire remained the same size.

Jon

older bikes were set up like that, the newer ones run the speedo/odometer off a gear in the transmission.

My '93 RR has a cable speedo and my MPH is still right, but for some reason the odometer reads higher.

Me & my dad filled up at the same time, both reset our odometers and when we got where we were going, mine said 106 miles & his said 100.
I have -1 +3.

Most have a magnetic pickup at the countershaft, just unhook it. You wont have a speedo or rack up any miles but your tach will still work and you can judge your speed off of what gear and rpm thats what i do.
