more quick help, rectifyer ??s

i got a brand new stator on the way, but now my bro welded some supports on my 12 bar so i wouldnt tweak, and now i cant mount my rectifyer in the stock place. i was just gonna drill some holes in my "trunk", does it need to be mounted to metal or will plastic work, btw for those of you keeping up with my ongoing 929 problems, the guy i bought the stator from on ebay gave me a full refund including shipping, LUBBOCKEBAY uf you see anything for sale from him bid with confidence, pretty rare youll find someone that will give ya a full refund on a high price auction.

my best guess is because it has heatsinks on it, it gets hot and will melt the plastic... so mount it to metal.
