Re: cam chain tensioner 900rr

replace it or you can buy an adjustable one simple fix. If it gets loose just tighten it up.

Re: cam chain tensioner 900rr

Its pretty easy. I did it on my bike like a week ago. You do need some specific tools though. Go to www.sportbikes.net and do a search under cct. There is a good instructional page under one of the searches. The size of the hex socket and wrench you will need will probably be different. One other tool that is not listed in that tutorial that I used was a crows foot to adjust the manual cam chain tensioner locking bolt. A crows foot will come in handy if you dont want that nut to back out. I've heard of people hand tightening it, but **** that. You cant get a wrench in that small a space so the crows foot will work better. If you go with an APE cct the size of the crows foot will be 16mm. By the way what you are really talking about when you say cam chain tensioner is cam chain tensioner Lifter. That is what you are really talking about.

I have an 02 F4i. If I'm not mistaken the APE cam chain tensioner lifter is the same on a 900rr and F4i, as well as some other CBR bikes. Go to www.cbrzone.com Click where it says parts and find the cctl's.

Re: cam chain tensioner 900rr

What type of noise is your bike making. My bike would make an annoying rattling sound at 5000 rpm. I never notice a noise when I started it. It would kind of sound like keys rattling. Below 5000 rpm I didnt hear anything at all. I have not heard of many people having cctl problems on 900rr's, mostly 600. Not to say that your bike isnt having the same problem. What rpm's is your bike making noise at? Explain what it sounds like.
