Loud cam chain noise or drivr chain? If drive chain Check to see if your Sprockets match as in 525 and 520 isn't right! Check to see if your countershaft sprocket is tight! Check to see if your rear wheel is straight it could be cocked and making it bind!

I 'm petty sure he means cam chain, as in his cam chain tensioner went bad, so he replaced it with one from a 2000 gsxr 600? and now the chain is making noise? Maybe chain slap cause it's not tightening enough? Did you make sure it was a viable swap? I guess you should try and hunt down a wrecked 98 750(actually I think '96-'99 are roughly the same, they changed a great deal for 2000) in a junkyard or somewhere and pull the tensioner off it...? Maybe replace the cam chain? Dunno man, may be best to take it to a pro before you really fug stuff up ya know? ? ?
Good Luck, let us know how it goes:helmet

Arrow

I put an APE manual cam chain tensioner on my 98 750 and it seemed to fix the problem. Try www.gsxrzone.com

check with a dealer

The dealership I work at in the summer has warrantied older gsxr srad's, there have been 3 or 4 GSXR cam chain/tensioner recalls, if it hasnt been done, they will do it per Suzuki.(if it qualifies)

dont put a salvage tensioner in.. just use a manual one from APE. The stock tensioners suck anyways, putting in a used stocker is asking to have your motor hosed IMO. The manual ones are really cheap, you will have to adjust it every 5K or so miles. No biggie.
