Stunnin' an R6?

Anyone stun an R6? I know its only a 600, but how well do they take abuse and all? Ive been tryin' to find a good deal on a crashed newer liter bike, but still savin up a few bucks. Until then I have my clean '02 R6, but will an engine cage and other shiat help from messing up the bike(bent frame)? Are the R6 engine's tough anough for stunnin'? I eventually want to race the bike out after i get a dedicated stunt bike, would stunnin the R6 for a few haunt it when i start to race? I know its really all in the rider, but i just want to see what other people think?.......

Re: Stunnin' an R6?

Well since i'm bored i'll give you my oppinion....

I used to own an R6, i'd have to say it's not the best stunt bike out there....but if it's all you got for now then stunt it....I crashed my bike many times and overall it held up pretty good....The motors are very strong, but it's the tranny that's very weak....i had to rebuild my tranny after a year of stunting......

You will find that it's very twitchy and has a very high and small balance point....I'm not saying that you can't, but it will be more difficult than stunting the more popular stunt bikes out there...

And if you don't smack it up to bad, it will make an amazing track bike....

Good luck

Re: Stunnin' an R6?

Ive noticed the high balance point, seems ya got to get it up there to balance it. I know they are great track bikes and is what I want to use it for. Anyone got a sick azz deal on a '02/'03 R1?954? etc. 900, 929?? or a gsxr grand??? for a stunt bike, nothing pretty!

HEY, I ride a 99 R6 and it has taken alot of abuse!! I have'nt crashed it yet, but it has 25,000 miles on it and all I'v ever changed is tires and oil!! She is overdo for a clutch and chain, but i cant complain cause the ***** will rev to the moon and like it! This year she will really take the test as a stunt bike!!
It has more than enough power with a little added gear!!

crashing is abuse and it doesn't take it very well. they bend subframes easily, the trannys are weak, the front fairing/upper bracket is weak. but if it's what you got stunt it to death. it will still work, there are guys that use them, eric from stunters is the first to come to mind.

Re: Stunnin' an R6?

i have a 2003 R6. ive crashed it once. and ive had no problems. but i havent been hardcore stunting. just lots of wheelies and stoppies. but im makin her a streetfighter this year. 12 oclock bar, and some nice low gearing.
so ill let ya know how it goes.

BTW< if anyone has some info on putting a 12 bar on an r6 thatd be great. ill be the first person in this city to do it. so there isnt really anyone with any experience on it here.

Re: Stunnin' an R6?

well i used to have an 00 r6. moved on to a 929.
if you really wanna dedicate it to tricks, then i'd say just sell it and buy an f4i. you wouldn't be losing any money out of it that way.
ofcourse everybody says its the rider not the bike, but trust me, the hondas are way nicer and smoother on everything. quite a few guys can kill it on r6's but imo i'd say go honda.
i had -1+5 sprockets on it with a fi cage and 12bar and stunted it daily, and i actually never had any tranny problems after 30k miles on it and two different r6's. surprisingly the r6 does hold up well, but i wouldn't recommend converting it to a track bike after all that abuse.
all in all, a whole in a whole, lol if you are gonna keep it then go for it!! its not THAT bad of a bike. my 2cents
