Unhappy please examine your footpeg brackets

all i have to say is people please examine your footpeg brackets, if you do any standups, because mine snapped clean off while doing a standup at 40, (back passenger bracket).

bike went down on the left side, crash cage collapsed into the case cover, blew that apart, and cracked the motor casing too....sure is fun sliding behind a bike in a pool of oil, must have been about 2 feet wide and a 75 yards of oil on the road. Bike just kept going and going. Not to mention the two buddies behind me that where up on one wheel and had to set down and swerve to avoid from running me over.

Had to goto ER too to make sure my ankle wasnt broken, now im on crutches with a broken bike in the basement.

Im just glad it wasnt on the freeway, so please check your brackets for hairline cracks, I plan on designing something a lot stronger, so that this will never happen again.

Yeah, that happened to Steve too about a year ago..... He was doing a combo on the back pegs and when he shifted all his weight over to the Left back peg.....you could hear the peg hit the pavement! So he had the back pegs made out of a single piece of steel. They are sweet and the best part is....they won't budge! Yeah.....they also won't "fold in" like stock pegs.....but I'll never hit the pavement because they broke off again!

If you're interested in this kind of peg pm WheelieSteve and ask him about getting a set.....

Hope you and your bike recover quickly.

If you have an R1 get your pegs checked. I heard they had a recall on them because they keep breaking. Yamaha fixed this one kids bike because his peg broke while doing a standup.

ya the 02-03 r1's have weak bolts that hold the actual peg to the bracket, (on the front sets)

I'm def going to make some steel brackets.

My front shift side bracket has a crack in it now! I noticed it a few weeks ago.

R1 peg bolts and rearset castings can both snap. bolts more often, but i have seen both. best option is simply to buy some beefy aftermarket rearsets and never worry again. ..although checking bolt tightness once in a while, and using blue loc-tite are both good ideas.

my hooptie..

having a peg snap is no fun. thankfully i walked away. was doing a superman into a standup into a nac nac when no sooner did i get my right leg crossed over and ping the peg snaps. needless to say i have some custom steel pegs on the back now. my biggest concern was always CAT doin' stuff on the back. thank god it happened to me and not her(but i do weigh about 90lbs. more than her).
