It's rather annoying, I think ppl should stop doing that. All you gotta do is hit the stop button to mute it.On topic...lots of good points out in the thread here......all bring very valid points, and I think we all should realize that the game changes as life changes for us. It will take some time still since stunting in this aspect is still relatively a new "Sport" as some would say, and the publicity hasn't always been the best(since a good portion takes place on public roads). I wish the best for all of you seeking a career in stunting, you guys have made this a hard place for people to play catch-up in. For the rest of us, I always just do what makes me happy, and goofing around on the bikes with some of my buds is always a good time
, especially when a little competition is at hand Originally posted by MikeM

Its one thing to get paid as a pro, I mean out every weekend traveling, spending money, time, effort, blood sweat and tears and all that othersh*t, to help the sport progress. Its another to ride and stunt to look cool for girls and haters, and expect to be compensated. Just because you can ride a whellie and do a stoppie, doesnt make you a pro. Your attitude, profesionalisim(?), effort, drive, want, and dedication is what seperates most of us from the true pros out there. A true pro talks to fans signs autographs and doesnt just hang with the curb hoes. A true pro makes the sport progress, not just expect it to. A pro dedicates his life to the sport, not just the weekend. And they deserve to be compensated accordingly. I will never be a pro, I dont have the talent or time or drive that some have. I dont expect to be famous from riding wheelies, however some people should be.

honestly who gives a **** if gorka doesnt ride unless hes gettin paid. its his life, let him do what he wants. is it goin to affect your life at all if gorka stops. *** no. just ride if you love it and if not, then quit and make a living doin something else. no matter what, you gotta make money or you wont survive.
when gorka quits, the only thing that will happen will be some other kid that rolls his endos longer and gorka will get left behind. worry about yourself

It makes me laugh that the people who say you should just do it for fun, are people I've never heard of, which means they haven't been in the game that long. Give it time fellas, it will start to get old to you also. Thats all right though, you guys sit back and have fun, (as if we don't have fun at all, doing what we do) then when we make this sport big, you all can jump in and reap the rewards. Thats the safe thing to do. Keep in mind though, people don't remember 2nd's and 3rd's. They remember 1st's. So Scott, Kevin, Kyle, Gorka, Patrick, Jason B, D-Mann, Dan, Stone Bros., and Shuggs, keep doing what your doing because your my inspirations for what I've done this far. And if your not one of these guys or not doing something similar to what their doing you need to get out of the way so they can finish what they started.
Gorka- It does strike me as funny that I have to travel to a 3rd world country to make serious bank. I'm going to Mexico City in December and my travel expense alone are more than I've ever made at a single show, and those aren't even a 1/4 of what their paying me to ride.
So I'll ride without getting paid (practice, streets), but I sure in the hell ain't riding so someone else can make money off me, unless I'm being compensated. The events at Municiple Stadium, Todd Colberts events, both promoters are still making money off of the riders from footage that doesn't help anyone except the person that sold the footage (read Todd C).
Its not the sport that pisses me off, its the POLI-TRICKS that are involved.

PRO, short for Professional.
Professional meaning a person doing a task as a profession.
Profession meaning you do it to get payed.
end comment-If you call yourself a PRO, you should be getting payed.
Second the starboyz comment, those guys did it right. They make a good living doing what they love. If the money is not there you sometimes have to move on. Just the way it is.

Tru Dat....
ok
Sometimes I try to do things and it just doesn't work out the way I wanted
to.
I get real frustrated and I try hard to do it and I take my time and it
doesn't work out the way I wanted to.
It's like I concentrate real hard and it doesn't work out
Everything I do and everything I try never turns out
It's like I need time to figure these things out
But there's always someone there going
Hey Mike:
You know we've been noticing you've been having a lot of problems lately. You
know, maybe you should get away and maybe you should talk about it, maybe
you'll feel a lot better
And I go:
No it's okay, you know I'll figure it out, just leave me alone I'll figure
it out. You know I'll just work by myself.
And they go:
Well you know if you want to talk about it I'll be here you know and you'll
probably feel a lot better if you talk about it.
And I go:
No I don't want to I'm okay, I'll figure it out myself and they just keep
bugging me and they just keep bugging me and it builds up inside and it
builds up inside.
So you're gonna be institutionalized
You'll come out brainwashed with bloodshot eyes
You won't have any say
They'll brainwash you until you see their way.
I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
to give me the needed professional help
to protect me from the enemy, myself
I was in my room and I was just like staring at the wall thinking about
everything but then again I was thinking about nothing
And then my mom came in and I didn't even know she was there she called my
name and I didn't even hear it, and then she started screaming MIKE! MIKE!
And I go:
What, what's the matter
And she goes:
What's the matter with you?
I go:
There's nothing-wrong mom.
And she goes:
Don't tell me that, you're on drugs!
And I go:
No mom I'm not on drugs I'm okay, I was just thinking you know, why don't
you get me a pepsi.
And she goes:
NO you're on drugs!
I go:
Mom I'm okay, I'm just thinking.
She goes:
No you're not thinking, you're on drugs! Normal people don't act that way!
I go:
Mom just give me a Pepsi please
All I want is a Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me
All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me.
Just a Pepsi.
They give you a white shirt with long sleeves
Tied around you're back, you're treated like thieves
Drug you up because they're lazy
It's too much work to help a crazy
I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
To give me the needed professional help
To protect me from the enemy, myself
I was sitting in my room and my mom and my dad came in and they pulled up
achair and they sat down, they go:
Mike, we need to talk to you
And I go:
Okay what's the matter
They go:
Me and your mom have been noticing lately that you've been having a lot of
problems, you've been going off for no reason and we're afraid you're gonna
hurt somebody, we're afraid you're gonna hurt yourself.
So we decided that it would be in your interest if we put you somewhere
where you could get the help that you need.
And I go:
Wait, what do you mean, what are you talking about, we decided!? My best
interest?! How can you know what's my best interest is? How can you say what
my best interest is? What are you trying to say, I'm crazy? When I went to
your schools, I went to your churches, I went to your institutional learning
facilities?! So how can you say I'm crazy.
They say they're gonna fix my brain
Alleviate my suffering and my pain
But by the time they fix my head
Mentally I'll be dead
I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
To give me the needed professional help
To protect me from the enemy, myself
It doesn't matter i'll probably get hit by a car anyway.

hhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
ALL- look at our "extreme sport" and take a look around at others, note the differences, thier residency and the number of times they have evolved. Compare....
Also, do your research to see how long it took for those athletes to begin to recieve pay
"you can ride for free or for a million dollars, but if you haven't found GOD in your life, then you will still be broke"

Theres only about 6 riders that I know of including myself that are fulltime-- competitors and showman --so based on that number compared to the amount of people with an opinion its really hard for me to belive that you people have a clue what it takes and the sacrifices we make every day to survive. and realise the things we have lost..Its funny to me--everyone is a stuntrider--and everyone is the best--- there is just way to many people out there that \ think they got what it takes --Gorka has the biggest heart I know for this **** and you know what he is smarter than me for thinking with his brain not his heart
damn good thread, id love to make a living period
.. let alone making it doing something i have loved since i was a child.i am def a ***-up and 1 of the only things i have considered myself to be good at is riding. i love attention and all but i have been riding and stunting for myself(!!) for a long time.that has put me in wheelchairs and casts and pushed me to the edge at times- but i still love it...
its flurrying here in northville right now, and well im going for a ride- metal showing on the back tire and all
oh,and anyone round here got an extra tire--front or back
???? seriously i really need to throw something on the back bad...
oh, and tonyd- who r u to think or doubt wether i have a clue what it takes to survive, sacrifice, and bla, bla, bla.or basing anything on this magical# 6 you've come up with- you dont think there are people that stunt for a living that just dont do it on a motorcycle everyday, like sometimes its a car or whatever??the bottom line is we are all people and we do the best we know how at the time.who am i to judge-and who r u to judge me.... and of course everyone always thinks they r the best, you just figuring that one out??

oh,and anyone round here got an extra tire--front or back
???? seriously i really need to throw something on the back bad...oh, and tonyd- who r u to think or doubt wether i have a clue what it takes to survive, sacrifice, and bla, bla, bla.or basing anything on this magical# 6 you've come up with- you dont think there are people that stunt for a living that just dont do it on a motorcycle everyday, like sometimes its a car or whatever??the bottom line is we are all people and we do the best we know how at the time.who am i to judge-and who r u to judge me.... and of course everyone always thinks they r the best, you just figuring that one out??

now I did read Gorka's post and from his post I can understand that he will not participate in an event where he is not getting paid. especially if he has to travel and we all know that when your traveling and staying in a hotel room for a weekend and gas and all that **** with that event you just MAYBE will break even, that sucks!! I got the point on that and Gorka you said it well

It's like I concentrate real hard and it doesn't work out
Everything I do and everything I try never turns out
It's like I need time to figure these things out
But there's always someone there going
Hey Mike:
You know we've been noticing you've been having a lot of problems lately. You
know, maybe you should get away and maybe you should talk about it, maybe
you'll feel a lot better
And I go:
No it's okay, you know I'll figure it out, just leave me alone I'll figure
it out. You know I'll just work by myself.
And they go:
Well you know if you want to talk about it I'll be here you know and you'll
probably feel a lot better if you talk about it.
And I go:
No I don't want to I'm okay, I'll figure it out myself and they just keep
bugging me and they just keep bugging me and it builds up inside and it
builds up inside.
So you're gonna be institutionalized
You'll come out brainwashed with bloodshot eyes
You won't have any say
They'll brainwash you until you see their way.
I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
to give me the needed professional help
to protect me from the enemy, myself
I was in my room and I was just like staring at the wall thinking about
everything but then again I was thinking about nothing
And then my mom came in and I didn't even know she was there she called my
name and I didn't even hear it, and then she started screaming MIKE! MIKE!
And I go:
What, what's the matter
And she goes:
What's the matter with you?
I go:
There's nothing-wrong mom.
And she goes:
Don't tell me that, you're on drugs!
And I go:
No mom I'm not on drugs I'm okay, I was just thinking you know, why don't
you get me a pepsi.
And she goes:
NO you're on drugs!
I go:
Mom I'm okay, I'm just thinking.
She goes:
No you're not thinking, you're on drugs! Normal people don't act that way!
I go:
Mom just give me a Pepsi please
All I want is a Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me
All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me.
Just a Pepsi.
They give you a white shirt with long sleeves
Tied around you're back, you're treated like thieves
Drug you up because they're lazy
It's too much work to help a crazy
I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
To give me the needed professional help
To protect me from the enemy, myself
I was sitting in my room and my mom and my dad came in and they pulled up
achair and they sat down, they go:
Mike, we need to talk to you
And I go:
Okay what's the matter
They go:
Me and your mom have been noticing lately that you've been having a lot of
problems, you've been going off for no reason and we're afraid you're gonna
hurt somebody, we're afraid you're gonna hurt yourself.
So we decided that it would be in your interest if we put you somewhere
where you could get the help that you need.
And I go:
Wait, what do you mean, what are you talking about, we decided!? My best
interest?! How can you know what's my best interest is? How can you say what
my best interest is? What are you trying to say, I'm crazy? When I went to
your schools, I went to your churches, I went to your institutional learning
facilities?! So how can you say I'm crazy.
They say they're gonna fix my brain
Alleviate my suffering and my pain
But by the time they fix my head
Mentally I'll be dead
I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
To give me the needed professional help
To protect me from the enemy, myself
It doesn't matter i'll probably get hit by a car anyway.
