CBR900RR wheelies?

I have been told that any CBR900 up untill 99 is a GREAT wheelie bike because the balance point is lower and the bike is easier to wheelie even stock. I heard that the low balance point is because its a short wide bike, vs. my f4 which is long and skinny and has a super high balance. Is this true? I was thinking that the shorter 99 cbr900rr would have a bette balance point than even the 929 but I dont know. I am thinking of getting one soon so please give me all the good and the bad about the 900RR. I only do wheelies and stoppies so let me know how well it does those also.

Thanks all,

Clumbsy

thats bs, everybike has a balance point, your either below it (power wheelie) in it (good wheelie) or past it (rear brake or ur pooped)

I've heard the same thing. It make sense, the balance on a R1 is a lot higher than that on the 929 if you ask me. I can't wheelie a 900RR for crap, I feel a lot more comfortable on my gixxer. Its all in what you get used to.

Width has nothing to do with it. Its where the weight is displaced, if its forward the bike must be higher to balance. If it further back the balance point will be lower.

To ans. your first Q. It is said that the cbr96-99 has a lower balance point, which in turn makes it easier to ride a wheelie. I believe it is also just a great all around stunt bike(stability and performance wise) I don't know about the short and wide part, but i do know the r1 which has the smallest wheel base for a 1000 is not really a good stunt bike, but can be done!!

900s rule! i've ridden my buddy's 929 a handful of times, still can't get used to it, very narrow balance point (for 12s anyway) compared to my 900 which is really stable all over. Only downfall to the 900 is a 16in front wheel, and carbs. But for just doing wheelies and stoppies, you wont find a better bike.

55 inches

The wheel base on all sports bikes is right around 55 inches so length would have nothing to do with it. The length of the swing arm can effect it. The 900 is a great stunt bike but it is no magic pill.

Re: CBR900RR wheelies?

I have a 96 900rr and at 12 oclock wheelies it cuts out because it's not fuel injected, which blows

Re: CBR900RR wheelies?

Well once ur at BP. The shorter bike means u have less room for error. The longer bike means u have more room for error. Simply because the distance of over and under BP is greater on a longer bike........=-)

For instance, the BP on a crf50 is SMALL compared to the big bike. You cant flirt with the BP on a 50. But on the big bike u can flirt with it alot more.

Hard to explain, but anyone who knows what BP is, would know what im talking about, LoL
