Bike Week 2004
Bike Week 2004
After bike week 03's rain and 02's cold temps I am thinking of going somewhere other than Daytona Beach for 04. For me it's about a 17 hour drive to somewhere where the cops hate any stunter(nothing new). $200+ a night for a hotel room if I make resevations a year in advance. I have waited hours to just get breakfast(that's right I'm fat). Can't meet up at Hess anymore. More Harleys than any non Harley person should have to bare(those guys are good at revving, I'll give them that). The traffic is about as bad as anywhere in the U.S. that week. And to be honest w/ yous a little too much sausage for my taste.
This year me and the a**hole I went with to daytona decided to leave the Deland stunt thing Friday morn we couldn't stunt there both bikes had blown fork seals, pissing fork oil everywhere. So we went up to Savannah Ga. to meet some non bike friends. It was 80 degrees and it did not rain a drop the 3 days I was there. We killed Savannah lots of bars, lots of girls, drinking in the street, $60 a night for a room, and the ability to stunt anywhere in the city and on the outskirts of the city. Only one fight, we lost badly. I think the cops might have bigger problems than sport bikes to worry about there.
I am not saying we should all go to Savannah or anywhere else for that matter, but with the evergrowing size of the stunt community are shear numbers of participants in this sport/skill/hobbie this could provide an opportunitity to really leave a mark on the motorcycle industry.
I realize this will hurt the teams performing trying to srape enough bucks to pay for the trip and fix up the machines and get some intrest from non or new stunters.
But if it was a new city they'd never see us coming and it would probably be mayhem for at least a couple of days.
any thoughts, ideas, objections

I've been going to Bike Week for 8 years straight and it gets worse every time. I remember the first time the Starboyz rolled into Hess and everyone was like "who the fu(k are these guys with the fur" And then they started busting $hit on Itn'l Speedway Blvd.and dropping everyone's jaws. Bottom line is you can pretty much forget about stunting on the main roads. I've heard rumors that the Harley guys are looking for a spot in Orlando or Tampa. I know for a fact that Orlando is a bad idea, total cop town. There has to be an effort to find a town close enough to Daytona to ride there for the freak show but far enough away so you won't get bothered. Any ideas?
This will be my 6th(1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004) Bike Week in a row. And I love that I bring different riders there every year. Every year has been great all things considered.
Granted the cops DO get worse every year. They harass us everywhere we go, especially the HESS, the Wendy's and the road behind the Days Inn.
But, its getting better though. Because of shows like Glen's(R1 Fast) and Todd Colbert, and Starboyz. I really enjoyed the Starboyz show at the Volusia County Fairgrounds last bike week. I think the Starboyz love going to Daytona, even though they get mad tickets and spend mad time in jail (Scott). That said, I think we all find new ways to have fun. I just wish that the businesses would appreciate our business like they do the Harley guys!!!

p.s. we spend hella dough at HESS!!!!!!!!
