Need some advice.CBR 900. $1300 Is this too good to be true?

Hey guys thanks for any help in advance.

So I've been looking for a stuntbike to ride but I am pretty damn broke being a college student and all. So I recently came into contact with a gentleman who has a 97 CBR 900 which he dropped pretty hard and broke the front and side fairings and left clip on. The guy said he "*****'d it" and picked the bike up and rode home with the left clip in had using the clutch and whatnot....lol. He says the bike runs fine. Its currently rideable up the street without the clip on attached. you just need to use the clutch in hand. Its less than a year late on registration and aside from the cosmetics it runs fine.Clean title in hand. He wants 1300 bucks.

I can get a friendly moto mechanic to come with me, but the bike is a bit distant so arranging that would be more hectic than I'd like. an From what the pictures depict and what is stated would a mechanic be needed?
On a mechanics scale 1 (checking tire pressure) - 10 (Engine overhaul)
My personal level of mechanics would be about a 6.

So Is this sketchy and should i avoid this?

Or if this is quite the deal, can you guys give me some serious pointers and some really in depth things i could do to check out the bike?
If you guys recommend Ill take the mech. but I would rather not let my mechanic be the only deciding factor in this purchase because frankly, he's never stunted/ridden a 900rr as well.
Is finally my destiny to stunt this 900 or just a sour deal waiting to happen? ha
All help is greatly appreciated

if you new to the game 900 is to strong for you and it looks like you got to put some money into it with the money you got look for a f2 f3 set up for around that price or if you lockey you could find a f4i for 1500 with a bill of sale with a little work into it but dont go crazy looking for one take your time and you will find something

I love the 900's

If your looking for a lot bike, there not the best (but will do the job). But they are powerfull
and are damn near Indestuctable.. Great Bike for rocking streets... :

$1300 isn't to bad for a clean titled 900

Well, I want to say I 'm have a very good understanding of the power of the 600, and i have a the smarts to respect the throttle and clutch on a 900. BUT I READ EVERYWHERE THAT THOSE SUCKERS ARE WHEELIE KINGS WITH TORQUE AND BP FOR MILES?

So Im going upfront to just go see the bike without cash and scope it out before wasting my mech's time. What kinds of sounds should i be looking for and what isnt very normal on an old bike? I heard other honda 900's have cold clutch noise issues?

Sucks it's not Ridable but ask if 2nd gear is still good... those
motors are damn near Bullet proof (as long as the person had
oil in it) try to listen for a knock or pinging off the top and
bottom of the motor.

I have had 4 of these and loved every bit of them...
