R6S sprocket setup

Hey I'm new to the forums but not to riding/stunting . Always have ridden with stock gearing but I want more torque for highchairs tank wheelies etc. I'm staying all steel I don't want aluminum so the biggest I can get for the rear is 50. So that's set. But I cannot decide between 14 or 15 tooth up front. Stock gearing is 16-48. I don't want to drop below 130 top speed . Is -1 +2 enuf to not stress the clutch when dumping it in third gear? Any advice is helpful thank you

Don't limit yourself to steel. Once you have a quality set of chain and sprockets (albeit aluminum alloy) and maintain it properly with enough slack, you'll find that you won't be afraid of aluminum. You'll also find it's much harder on your chain (and then your sprocket wear) to go with smaller size sprockets than larger ones.

Alright thanks.... so if set up correctly a anodized aluminum rear will last a while ? So going down two in the front isn't a good idea then ? If I were to do a -1/+2 with steel will that allow me to pull up third gear easier and highchairs in second

Also any idea where I can get a larger steel rear?? Because if I could find a black steel rear I would just go down one in front and up all the rest in the back ... I have been unable to find anyone who makes steel larger than 50

I don't know of a larger steel, no. We've had professional guys run a 520 setup on 600's for 3 years of full time hard stunting before needing replaced. If can go to a 14 if you had to, but wot as a first option. The smaller the sprockets are, the harder the chain works, and more load is put on fewer teeth and links - so you get a shortened life. Also- not leaving enough slack in your chain to accomodate suspension travel will put added stress that will stretch it. And once your chain is stretched your sprockets will be toast soon after. That's why it's also important to use a god chain and replace it with new sprockets.
A -1/+2 will give you one gear worth of change...so, 3rd will pull like 2nd, etc..

Ohhh alright thanks ! That's probably the simplest put way I've heard on any of these forums . I did find a custom titanium maker but now that you told me that I might just go with the typical -1+2 to save $150

Re: R6S sprocket setup

Yeah- just remember, the new sprocket life will be mainly based on the condition of your chain.
