Clip on or rivet master link
Clip on or rivet master link
So I took my 03 600rr completely apart and got my home boy to paint the rims frame and swing arm. I ordered a new cage sub cage sprocket and chain and got all those powder coated as well so I'm just anxious to put this thing back together. I dint have a chain tool to use my rivet master link but I have a clip on link. What do y'all think I should do, wait a day or two and put the rivet master on or just go with the clip on?? Oh and the sprocket is 64t. Just would like to get some advice. Thanks everyone

either is fine,I've ran both styles and have never had a single problem with either one, just make sure you install the clip facing in the right direction, even though I really dont think it matters.

Re: Clip on or rivet master link
Either one works fine, as long as they are installed properly!
I've seen FAR to many people improperly install rivet style links... And improparly installing them is way more dangerous then a clip that was properly installed!
Also with clip style, you can safety wire them if you want, as well as silocon over the top of hte safety wire, then they will never come off..
My last chain I safety wired it, my current chain, I actually dropped some super glue on the link then put it on, isn't no way it's coming off without a punch and a hammer!
Don't try installing a rivet style with a hammer.. If you beat it on too far you can fatigue the metal and cause it to break unexpectedly, if you don't beat it far enough on it could fall off. Many people use hammers to install them with a punch, and it's NOT the right way. Might as well use a clip if you are going to do that.
Sure it could work, but what happens if it fails? Hopefully you don't lose a motor, or a leg!

Re: Clip on or rivet master link
what up sef... man i've always just run the clip links on my chains and never had any problems... the rivet links just seem to be a huge unnecessary pain in the ***.
Re: Clip on or rivet master link
just make sure you have it in the right direction Re: Clip on or rivet master link
