On Point cage review
On Point cage review
So I just purchased one of these cantilever cages from On-Point, I purchased the stage 2. When I saw this thing and pretty much said “ya I’m going to give this thing a shot”. There was just something about the shocks and the whole design that I liked. Right now its winter where I live and I couldn’t sell my F4i so I decided I’m just going to build this thing up the way I want it and get all the parts that I wanted.
I wasn’t originally going to purchase a cage because mine is still in pretty good shape but I figured oh well I’m giving my bike a full stunt part makeover and why not give them a shot. So I ordered this cage on their website and used PayPal to pay for it. They sent me a confirmation number and e-mailed me right when they shipped the cage, also gave me the tracking number which isn’t huge but when you’re waiting for something it’s just nice to know when you’re going to get it. Then they e-mailed me with the parts list, full installation instructions and the tools I’d need to put it on, they put it on excel so it’s kind of nice you can just print it off your computer.
It took about a week to get, it probably would have been sooner but I ordered it over Christmas, either way it was pretty fast shipping. I opened it up and started ripping off all the packing, they put everything in the box pretty tight so nothing moves or touches other parts. I looked it over checked all the welds and looked at the springs and the bolt kit. Being a fabricator myself I could see this thing has some pretty sounds welds and gussets in all the right places. Looked at the shock and the mounts and everything looks pretty sound.
Next came the fun part mounting this thing on my bike and seeing what kind of nightmare it was going to be. Sometimes things just don’t fit together the way they are supposed to but this was actually pretty easy. Once I got my old cage off basically all I had to do was mount up the two sides and figure out where to dremel the holes for the cross bar which goes through between the exhaust and the engine. I also had to dremel a little more where the cage bolts to the engine mounts. Once I got the holes done and threw the bolts in for the cage on both side I got my marks for the crossbar. I had to pull the two sides back off to get the holes done for the crossbar which seems like a headache but it actually went pretty quick. Then I put the left side on loosely and slid the crossbar in place and bolted it in loosely as well then I mounted up the right side and tightened everything up and it was really solid. Then I had to put the sliders in, the bolts that it came with seemed a bit long but I assumed the hole in the slider had to be on the shaft portion of the bolt and not the threads. It was kind of hard to get in the inside of the cage, to mount it up I had to use a ¼ drive socket wrench to get it and it took a while because they have a lock nut welded in place to hold the slider, but at least I didn’t need to hold another nut with a wrench so it wasn’t all that bad. I’d say it took me alone just over an hour to get it all mounted up and ready to rip. Also just wanted to add that this cage weighs 17lbs which is about 3lbs lighter than my previous cage which was made from a local manufacturer here in MN.
I live in MN so I won’t be able to ride it for a little while because we have two feet of snow on the ground unless my lot clears up enough for me to get out, but I’m planning to take a trip to Oklahoma here in a month or so to really put it to the test. I just wanted to let you all know that so far there customer service was really good, lots of emails and just nice people to deal with. I know there are a lot of nay sayers out there and people thinking that the cage industry has all it needs but I disagree, nothing wrong with choices and innovation. I’ve only been stunting for a little over a year now and am just learning circles and starting to move around the bike so I figured I could really get some use out of this cage and really put it to the test. So as soon as I get a chance to put in some time on this thing and put it down I’ll post up more and let you know what I think. Here’s a few pictures of my bike with the cage on!

Re: On Point cage review
At the on point performance site http://www.onpointperformance.com
the dude doesnt have one picture of the cage on the bike cause its hideous and he probably knows it lol.. but the video the on point dude posted up on here and stunt ride of him dropping the bike continuously the cameras pretty far, im thinking it was for a reason lol....
i still think it looks like a dope idea but theres two separate shocks that if they get damaged are probably gonna be in-replaceable and if they break which they probably will, it makes the over wall usability of the cage= **** and then your basically left with two broken shocks on a ugly *** cage. A cage that's probably gonna tweak the **** out of your frame and eat away slowly at the threads of your motor mounts cause of how heavy it is . Or you'll forget to keep that ugly cage tight and your motor mounts will get stripped
And your old cage looks like a stunt aid or a racing 905 which were both pieces of **** in there time so you might have problems that you haven't noticed.

Re: On Point cage review
flipper is a ***! haha now that **** is funny! Really, wtf was the point of the **** talking? Your bike is ******* hideous! so there! Oh p.s. by the looks of your avatar, your doin a power wheelie! Your look just as much like a squid as you claim everyone else to be
Re: On Point cage review
wtf was that mean anyway??? i know you were a squid because of the circle comment?? said he’s been ridding for over a year and is working on O's.. i have personally seen people get O's on lock in less then a year (I.E. Richie B from NH) First off you need to consolidate your **** talking (don’t post 6 times to say someone is a squid) and second off shut the **** up and knock that **** off, from the avatar and your lack-luster attempt of **** talking I know two things... your wheelies are garbage... and your **** aint tight.. Now knock that **** off...
