Re: Weldin a hole in the 05 600RR frame

Someone that's good with metal and a tig could plate over it.. Wont look factory but should hold up for stunt riding

But it'll cost you unless you have a friend who can do the work.. But a new frame your looking at $600-$1200 easy

Hmmmh I would imagine thats cast? Usually cast doesnt weld very good and may not hold up very well? But id get it plated and welded fo sho! Who knows may weld fine and hold up..its worth a try if you can find someone who will do it.

If you plate it properly, it would likely end up a lot stronger then stock

Of course, get a shitty welder, or do a bad job plating it, and it could become unsafe real fast

If it makes anyone feel better, my friend rode his 600rr with NO FRONT motor mount bolts for like 6 months.... I worked on his bike and was gonna replace the bolts, and the frame bent just from riding without hte bolts! The holes were over a inch of... He had to buy a new frame

lay the frame to rest, its junk. the cost of fixing it would out way its reliability and cost of a new non piece of **** frame

If you know someone who tigs aluminum, it would cost like $30 to fix.. Even paying someone hourly labor should only cost $120-$240, and still probably end up stronger then stock

but eh to each their own.. If it was my bike I'd plate it up like crazy and have my boy weld it for free, spend like $50 on aluminum and have it be way stronger then stock

Of course if the person doesn't know what the **** they are doing, they could easily make it way unsafe

Hell no dude get a frame, the hyde on your *** isn't worth trusting someone else's welding on a major structural part of your bike. Plus you don't know how bad the rest is out of whack and what else has been stressed. Just pick a frame up off of here.

I think you are a little low on the estimate but having a buddy know how to weld is an advantage.

Re: Weldin a hole in the 05 600RR frame

In my opinion it' worth fixing. but then again it would not cost me a dime, I would get my pops to do it for me. But even if i didn't have my pops i would get a GOOD welder to fix it.

Re: Weldin a hole in the 05 600RR frame

ok it at the welder, he is gonna plate it, the guys works on old cars all the time, and he welded a 929 engine for me before, so hopefully this will hold $180 is still cheaper than $2000 for the frame
also its not as bad as it looks on the picture, only one side is shaved off, the other 3 *walls* (i guess) are still intact

hopefully tomorrow he will be done and i'll post up some pics
