Fork swap/ steering stem help!!

Im trying to put 98-01 R1 forks and triples on my 99-02 R6. This has been done before so im not trying anything new and its all going fine exept the damn steering stem. I need to press the R6 stem out and put it in the r1 triples because one is longer than the other. I have been to 3 bike shops and 2 machine shops and all said they either couldn't do it, wouldn't do it, one said there press wasnt straight enough for it?, and the last guy at the yamaha shop said he had never even thought of swapping the stems in triples, ever. So my question is, am I missing something here? Is this not common to do? I know you guys have swapped every front end from kawi forks on hondas, and gixxers forks on r6's, etc, etc...
How do i get the damn stems out?
Some body help me out

You've got it right. You have to press the r6 stem into the r1 triples. Then use the r6 bearings. Just take both triples to a machine shop to have the stems switched. Keep looking for a shop that will do it. Most are lazy or scared

Re: Fork swap/ steering stem help!!

Ive done it a million times, biggest trick is to make sure its is straight gotta shim it right. I also suggest wrapping a tie down around the side pillars so if it shots out its hit them and not really go anywhere. It takes some serious *** to get it out but Ive done it a lot.

Go to harbor freight and get there bs press, itll do it. just get it straight up and down
