Re: 636 running hot

2 things, could be the water pump or the radiator could be clogged. Try flushing the radiator with water and have the bottom hose off ( the one on the opposite side of the filler) If it seems slow, there could be hard water deposits in there. Flush it with some CLR and you should be good to go. Had the same problem up here with one of my riders bikes. 2 shops couldn't figure this out!!!! idiots.

Re: 636 running hot

try burping the coolant system. You could have an air pocket somewhere. let the bike idle to 190-200 degrees and then turn it off. With a rag slowly slowly turn the cap to release the pressure/steam. Dont turn the cap to far or actuall coolant will come out. you should be able to hear gurgling of the air working out of the system. i just did this and it worked great. Be carefull

Re: 636 running hot

they all run hot call Ryan at RK Armor (314-333-9414) and get yourself a dual fan bracket for it and it wont get over 210. Ive been running it and I love it. It uses your stock fan and a right side newer r6 fan on a switch.

Re: 636 running hot

And I'm sure your R1 didn't heat up to 240+, I know the temp numbers I'm saying sound normal,I had a 1000rr it would get to 215-225 fan would come on and the bike would cool down. This 636 doesn't,if I ride it then just let it sit there and idle the bike temp gauge goes up til it can't read no more.

What are the chances it could be the water pump.

Sounds like my piece, I have a few fins pushed in on my radiator though. Try burping your coolant, I did that once and it helped some. I ended up rigging a second fan from a thrashed radiator and wired it up to my bike.

Zip ties to the rescue.

slim and none. I belive the water pump and oil pump are kinda the same. just do the CLR and flush your whole system REALLY GOOD

Re: 636 running hot

I just got a 06 a few months ago I think they just run hot. My isht runs on High at all times with the fan on and doesn't even cool down when I take a couple laps. I just said F it and unplugged the gauge.

Re: 636 running hot

Could be something as simple as a bad radiator cap. I had this same problem last summer on my 600rr tried a friends cap and fixed the problem. It looked good but for some reason wasn't pressurising properly. Try a different cap and see if the temp drops when the fan kicks in on idol.
