Road my first f4i and a few questions.

Hey guys i own a 03 750 and im just learning how to stunt. I've got balance point and stoppies down.

im looking to buy a stunt bike and went and looked at an 01 f4i today. The bike was streetfighter and had:
Dented tank
Sprocket
Timing chain adjuster w/e that is????
M4 exhaust
Ajustable steering.
Cage

Its not in the best condition.

The thing is... the bike feels very luggy. I only road it around the block and it feels like it weighs a ton.

IS THIS HOW ALL F4i's are??!? Is there anything i should know or you guys wanna suggest to me about f4i's coming from a 750...

Im also considering a completely stunt ready 636 03 full farrings for 4k. Good condition.

The f4i guy wants 2,500 but im gonna have to throw on a dampner and a 12 o bar and maybe rear hand break...

Both bikes are street legal.
Any advice?

You rode your first f4i, not road... a road is something you drive, ride or walk on..

hmmm. I went from 03 gix to f4i and it felt way lighter than the gixxer. Dunno man, but an f4i is the best bike to learn on. and u shure that wasnt an adjustable cam chain tensioner??

Cam chain = timing chain

i have owned and stunted all 3 bikes. im curious what the tire psi was in the f4i, . i would go with the f4i if you havent stunted before

What is the reasoning behind the adj cam tensoner, I just replaced mine with another stock only had my 03 f4i for about 8 months now. does the auto cam tensoner have problems?

oh and i noticed that it looked just like the one off my 450r, just a little more bulky. thought that honda would have changed their designs up a bit.....

Re: Road my first f4i and a few questions.

for 2500 you should be able to find a stunt bike that doesnt need anything. If that bike is beat up and doesnt even have a handbrake I would for sure keep looking.

the cam chain tensioner's(cct) sole purpose is to do exactly what the name suggests...it keeps tension on the cam chain so it's not floppin around or jumpin teeth,

An "auto" or "stock" CCT is spring loaded...when the spring gets old, wears out, or gets weak it causes slack in the cam chain that can cause it to skip teeth and **** up your timing.

A "manual" CCT is basically a bolt with a rounded end that keeps tension on the chain, then you snug up the lock nut and use locktite,it will never back out or loose tension, thats why the manual CCT is better.

$4,000 isn't a GOOD price but you really don't have many options cause you live in Hawaii.just get the F4i,you'll kill that 636 if your just startin to learn, the f4i is tough as ****.it'll be able to take the punishment that beginer stunters deliver.

Re: Road my first f4i and a few questions.

Living on Kauai I feel your pain. Check craigs list I found my 99 zx6r to learn on on Oahu under 2 gs, stock though. Now use my 07. Check the other islands also a G container is a little over 100$ to ship inter island. Other wise just put your money into setting up your 750 and in time find a nice 636 to stunt after put in time on the gixxer.
