its going to be like that regardless of how you try to bend it......your putting so much stress on the lever that its gunna be brittle

Re: bending brembo and magura hb masters???

I think you would be way better off trying to bend it by heating it up, or it's going to break for sure.

Re: bending brembo and magura hb masters???

heating aluminum with a torch it a tricky thing to do cause it doesnt turn red like steel , by the time you see the aluminum change it's usually too late and you have melted it ..

i have straightened a few levers cold in a vice with some luck but if you go too far they usually snap , i find the trick is to do it in one steady motion , if you stop and start again thats when they seem to break..

the ones i did were no where near as much as the one in the picture you posted , i didnt like the stock bend so i straightened it

Re: bending brembo and magura hb masters???

bending levers is easy, dont be afraid to do it. ive done tons. ill post pics of my front levers when i get home. i cut them short then put a 90 bend to make a nub at the end. ive also straightened tons of hb levers. best way to do it is clamp the body of the lever in a vice, slide a small pipe over the lever to about a half inch away from where u want it to bend. pull on the pipe but not hard enuff to bend it. keep that pressure steady then heat it with a hot torch. i use acetlyne, sp? the lever will start to move within 20 seconds or so, bam ur done. that way u dont melt it by over heating. just keep steady pressure and wait for it to move...

heat will make aluminum brittle. either do what omr said and use even pressure or if its off the bike you can use a hammer and do sharp blows.

one of my first lot sesions after that bike was set up, i dropped it pretty hard. bike and parts were pretty much brand new. i was pissed at first but then kinda liked the curved HB lever. i did loose a little leverage, so it has its draw backs and benifits. its saved my finger from slipping off a few times.

and as far as adjustment.... it didnt really seem to bing in the lever any closer just bent it at the end into a curl.
