Re: UFC tonite at 9:00

i like kimbo i dont care what anyone says. he fought well for his level of training. he's only been doing this **** a short time and definately has a long way to go and will continue to make mistakes as well as grow as a fighter. bottom line is, he's a good guy and a fighter with potential and alexender didnt do a ******* thing in that whole fight to score himself one point, he was scared like a bitch the whole fight running from kimbo.

the best part is when alexander is being introduced, he has all these mannorisms and facial expressions like he's some ******* caged animal ready to kill someone and then he comes out and dances around like a little fairy tryin to kick someone in the leg. real good strategy.

I didn't say I agree with the way Griffin won the fight over Rampage. But those are the rules. If they're gonna go by that in a TITLE FIGHT, then they need to do the same in every fight.

If you look at statistically, Houston threw 3 times as many strikes and connected twice as many. 80% of Kimbo's strikes were in the 2nd round during the ground and pound. If Kimbo had "control" of the fight, Houston wouldn't have been able to move around the ring the way he did, move in and strike, while Kimbo just stood there and hardly ever countered. If he was so "aggresive" how come Houston attacked first 90% of the time? Houston had a game plan and he stuck by it to the T. He said he wasn't gonna get into a "street brawl" with Kimbo. As boring as Houston's game plan was, he did exactly what he said he was going to do.

Either way, the fight was garbage and probably set-up. The fact that Houston knocked down Kimbo with the leg kick in the 3rd round and just stood there and let Kimbo take his time to get up instead of attacking him makes me wonder.

Oh and the judges usually don't know **** about MMA either. They're usually boxing judges.

Re: UFC tonite at 9:00

Kimbo fight was boring. Im a fan of kimbo. Hell i was kimbo for haloween.

The fight sucked though. Hes gotten better, but i wasnt impressed. Houston was timid as hell to let his hands go. I expected a brawl.

Shaub is a tough kid. I think he'll be in the UFC for sure. Big Country looks like ****, but hes actually a good fighter. Sell taught as well. If he could lose bout 60 lbs, drop to Light heavy, and get in a good camp, he could potentially be a real good fighter.

Jones is a very tough kid with insane ape arms. Shouldnt have been dg imo, but he shouldnt be able to win a fight with illegal strikes either...

Fight Metric.

And I made a mistake after looking at it again. Houston threw 30% more strikes but still connected twice as many.

Out of the 36 strikes Kimbo landed, 19 were in the 2nd round. Hell he only had 4 strikes total in the 1st round with 8 attempts.

That makes the fight look even worse on paper.

Re: UFC tonite at 9:00

i dont know what youre talking about cuz according to that website kimbo was by FAR the winner statisticly.

http://fightmetric.com/fights/Slice-Alexander.html

look at it for yourself, it might not have been pretty but he had all the takedowns all the control on the ground a submission attempt and landed the great majority of effective head and body strikes. the only thing alexender did was dance and kick kimbos legs.

Yeah but it also says Rampage beat Griffin. I used the site as a reference to strikes and take downs, that's all.

Oh and those leg kicks are killer man. Don't think they're love taps. I hate being kicked repeatedly like that. I know I couldn't last 3 rounds of that. There's a chick where I train at that would put 99% of the guys on this site on their *** with just 1 leg kick to the leg. If your leg is in pain and fatigued, you're gonna lose a lot of power in your punches. Thats probably a big reason Kimbo couldn't knock out Houston.

Those werent very powerful leg kicks though. He threw most of them with his lead leg. The one that took kimbo down was his rear leg. Leg kicks are very affective and very under rated.

leg kicks are VERY effective when part of greater fight stratgey. if youre whole strategy is to stay away from the fighter and kick at his legs for 3 rounds you are a ***** and show no aggression to win the fight and will lose when the other fighter is throwing 4 for 4 takedowns with a slam and more headstrikes and overall agression, not to mention a submission attempt. which is why kimbo won. alexander fought a **** poor fight and its obvious to any realistic unbiased person why he lost.

10 were power and 12 were jab by Houston.

Oh I completely agree. Almost everyone I know who only watches UFC and doesn't actually train or fight always talks trash about leg kicks. That crap hurts if your legs aren't conditioned.

I see your point of view. But mine is that everything you just said minus 1 take down all happened in the same round. Yes I agree Houston fought like a *****, but he tried to fight a smart fight. Kimbo has some powerful strikes so getting in a brawl with him wouldn't be smart on Houston's part. I was very disappointed in his performance cuz he's never fought like that. He's also never had a fight go past the 1st round, win or lose.

Well we aren't going to agree on anything except that the fight sucked.

He did dance around a lot, but at least he was trying to take shots. Did kimbo make one attack the first round? Kimbo was just waiting on him to **** up.

Don't get me wrong though, I like kimbo as a fighter more. But kimbo was doing the same bull ****, just not moving as much. Kimbo didn't advance in the first round!
