chain came off while entering a drift~

Couldn't believe it, not 5 minutes into the session my chain breaks as i was entering the drift...My chain is checked eached time i sesh out and come to find out to my suprise it was not the master link that snapped it was part of the main stock chain....I thought for sure my transmission case got damaged but was fortunate to see the chain ran clean through. anyone else have this happen to them?? I am putting on a D.I.D chain tomorrow so hopefully eliminate that prob...~!

^^^^yeah. Or if you don't lube the chain all the time the chains stretch under stress but I never had one break on me. Did you have two master links on your chain by chance

Re: chain came off while entering a drift~

I had an EK X-ring break that was two weeks old. One of the outer links cracked right at the pin , stretched and pulled the pin through the other side. I was floating a 3rd gear wheelie on the highway and it felt like it jumped a tooth. I set it down and when I let off all the way it broke. It shattered sprocket cover, waterpump, and cracked the case. I was only three up in the back on an 01 GSXR 750.

exactly what happened to my pin...the chain was a stock 520 on a 54t sprocket..chain has been always lubricated and checked for proper tension. I just think it was a weak point under heavy stress for that split second of clutching into the drift.

I have two master links on the chain, both of those were still in tact...
don't wanna scare anyone, thank God it did not happen inline HC mode, that would have been super devastating

switch your sprockets to zx10r sprockets woody... same pattern but 525 do heavier duty!

Re: chain came off while entering a drift~

get an EK with a high tensile. You can still use a 520 or 525, just a good one. the 530's will have a slilghtly higher tensile than the 525's.

make sure there is enough slack too... having a chain too tight will eat up your sprockets, and snap the chain too...
