just curious, who was this race with? WERA? CCS? and what track? because in these orgs rookies dont race with guys who have been riding for 9 years. in fact your first race would have been a mock race with other rookies in a race school. and second of all most of us racing are essentially on street bikes with race bodywork. thats why the superstock classes are more popular than superbike.
Rookie in this club means you dont hold a pro licence and are new to the club...And you can only do one year of Rookie cup. So the other 2 guys you see on that podium, have been racing in other races series for a few years...They would be mid pack privateers in some of those more serious racing series....
That isnt the point though, the point is alot of track/racing people think they are better then stunt riders...And the truth is most of us that stunt are really good riders, that can race just as well even better then some of them in much less time. We just dont race or track ride! So just do what you enjoy and dont put down other kinds of riding, or call people out cause you might just get your *** handed to you by a newbie...

Nah, not being a ***** it's just that I just don't care. I don't have to clean up any messes, baby sit or deal with any plain old stupid assed bullshit here. I can cuss <motherf@cker!>, spit, fart and just plain old not think about jackshit over here.

it's getting a little disheartening ... used to be a pretty big close knit group, people from across the us actually hung out and rode with each other .. now it's getting over run with dbags that want to be a hometown hero doing shows for parts when they don't have the skills ...

I live in Canada and it is a club racing league, designed with very little rules to try and bring new people like myself out to the track and racing...For example I am aloud to run slicks even thou Im a rookie/novice....

Racers don't get that much practice, for me a trackday costs $200 (closest track to me is Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham) just for the day not including tires and all the other expenses. That day generally only gets me 3 hours or less of actual riding time. Usually racing gets you less track time unless your doing an endurance race. Because of all this, I only get about 2-4 trackdays a month at best which equates to 12 hours of riding a month at the absolute most (I don't ride on the street so thats IT for me).
That all said, even being able to pick it up quickly does not make racing easy. The thing I love about racing is that there will ALWAYS be someone that can go just a little bit faster than you (and unless you have a Pro license, there are a LOT of people that can go LOT quicker than you). Rossi will make about $30 mil this year, if anyone thinks racing is easy, take a couple years and see if you take his crown away (note: not a chance in hell). Oh and btw I finished 4th and 2nd in my first race event with WERA after only doing a few trackdays and never stunting. I still suck; I say this just to point out amateur results mean nothing except to get you to an expert license where the real racers are.
If I could afford to buy a beater bike, I would probably have some fun trying to do what you guys do but for now I'm a racer and won't be stopping anytime soon.

I know when someone is a better rider than me and try to never talk smack like I'm some kind of stunt superstar. I WILL talk **** about someone if they're being an ******* or are a shady seller or **** like that, but not about riding skill.
