Turning bars upside down
Turning bars upside down
Some one told me instead of buying dirt bike bars for my 06 gix 6 i could just turn the stocks upside down. or putting them on top of the triple clamp. is this so.? im new to stunting, so flame if you will.
Re: Turning bars upside down
the stockers are not good for flipping on the gsxr. get some 636 clip ons or if u wanna spend some loot u can get some vortex or woodcraft and flip them. i like the 636 clip ons and thats what i have on my r6.
Re: Turning bars upside down
its simple. take ur tripple off and switch the clip ons and then put everything back on. i usually grind down the little nubs inside the switch housings so i dont have to drill a new hole in the clip ons for them to sit in. pretty straight forward but trust me youre not gonna like those stock clip ons flipped the way the gsxr clip ons are theyre raised up in stock form so if u flip them theyre gonna be much lower when you flip them so reversing the angle of them is pretty much taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back
Re: Turning bars upside down
you gotta take off the top crown and your clutch and brake/s from the bars and flip them upside down. (the right clip will end up over to the left side and left side over to the right side) my friend did it and it felt a lot better than they were originally, but it felt weird turning. try just repositioning the bars before you go ang flip them. i have not flipped mine but moved them out and forward and that suited me.
Re: Turning bars upside down
ok thaks for all the help. i think ill pull them out allitle further to try to get use to the straight angle. then it sounds like i need to get some 636 clip ons. if thats the best way to go. any other suggestions would be great.

Re: Turning bars upside down
if you want them on top you have to lower the tripples on the forks/ raising the forks in the tripples...which is going to **** up the handling of the bike making pulling up wheeleis and stoppies harder as well as shortening the balance point of rolling stoppies and possibly increasing the likelyhood of headshake. if you really want clip ons on top or rasied up buy a set of convertibars or the Fullthrottle fork extenders. lowering your front end is a bad idea. for 636's and f4i's hohey sells an aftermarket tripple tree which allows clip ons on top without lowering the bike, but i dont believe he makes one for gsxr's. i wouldnt worry about having them on top, its not some huge advantage. ive always run clip ons underneath and have no issues.
