Dual rear Nissen caliper set up

I have a set of 929 calipers kicking around the shop and my current hand brake sucks. I was thinking of fabricating up a bracket to run both nissen calipers on the rear. Think it will be too much for the foot brake?

Re: Dual rear Nissen caliper set up

I've got 1 on the back, HB and foot go to it and I think I love it. A little touchy at first (powerful) but sweet now, use to it.

Re: Dual rear Nissen caliper set up

Thanks for the feedback. I am gonna get some aluminum plate today and see what I can fab up. Should be able to find a line locally too. I'll post back up with my progress.

that's what I'm thinking. I have the parts here to do it and I want to run the Nissen for the handbrake anyway so I won't be wasting any $ on the line and stuff.
For the first attempt I'll make the bracket outta steel so I can cut and weld here at my shop. If I like it, I'll have a buddy CNC some up for the rest of the locals....

Re: Dual rear Nissen caliper set up

On my 636 I got a zx11 rotor and made a bracket to run a single 4 piston nissin on it. The bracket is so easy to make for this bike, i cant believe people are paying hundreds of dollars for them.

the plate you see is 3/16" steel and theres a 1/8" aluminum spacer plate behind the top half

What are you using for the adapter on the real master? I have the GP Tech on my bike now and it flexes like a *****. I can't even pull my bike back through idle with the hand brake and stock rear caliper.
I thought of trying your set up first (I might spray bomb it first thought) to see if that would be enough power to pull through idle with the radial master in front piggy backed through the rear master.

I have a few rear brackets to mess with too and I have the 3/16 plate here as well, thanks for the feedback.

And what year rotor? I'd love a bigger one to keep the heat down and the leverage up.

Re: Dual rear Nissen caliper set up

Sweet, thanks for all the input. I am leaning towards the dual nissin set up as of now. I also have 2 factory rear calipers and brackets that I am going to weld together for another guy on a 636 to get him up and running. Like I said earlier, I'll post up my success/failure pics soon...

I'm just concerned about the 4 piston being too touchy on the foot brake. I am just used to having the spongy single piston now. I'm sure it's much better once you get used to it.
