04/06 R1... Broke my crank...

Hi Guys,

I have started pulling longer and longer wheelies.

Unfortunately one of my big end bearings on my crank have failed. Now this maybe unrelated but I would love you help in making sure that my wheelies are not going to break my engine when I start them again with the fixed bike.

Q... What do I need to do to my bike to make it safer at wheelies? (By safer I mean not blow up!).

Q... Should I overfill the oil slightly?

Q... Is the 2004/6 R1 a good bike to wheelie or do they tend to destroy the engines in this bike?

Q... Do stunters on this bike fit dry sumps etc? Or alter the oil pickups?

Thanks for the help!!

There is good info at r1-forum.com on other issues with these 2nd gen engines but not sure about the oil pickup for extended 12 o'clocks yet.

Re: 04/06 R1... Broke my crank...

Hi there,Thanks for your message. Ok, should I fill the oil over the highest mark on the sight glass or just level with it?Also, to slow my wheelies down do I just have to get it to the BP a little sooner and at slower speeds to start with? Any tips for doing this?
