Re: r1 stunting?

Because they a too powerful/twitchy for squids to learn on. Guys that stunt the big bores usually have almost everything on lock on 600's.

Talking Re: r1 stunting?

I had a 01 r1 with a 64t rear an 1 down in the front way to heavy an torquey to learn on but it was definitely fun on the street pullin 6 gear power wheelies going like 50mph

Re: r1 stunting?

ive seen peeps kill it on an R1 with excessive gearing, but they def werent newbies to stunting. im not sure i would want to stunt a liter bike.......
my 636 is good for me right now.

Re: r1 stunting?

my buddy stunts an 03 R1 and holds his own pretty damn well vs us with the 600s...it just pisses me off when we're doing 80mph and he clutches it up with no effort at all. but agreed with the rest, def not for learning

Re: r1 stunting?

I stunted a gixer 1000 back in the day, never geared it, but I had idle wheelies on it. I think it'd be fine to stunt, just gotta be a little smoother than a 600

Re: r1 stunting?

A local guy here does some insane **** on a GSXR1000 with +5 sprocket and all the stunt goodies.

It's possible. Just seems scary to me.

is it harder to clutch one up on the 07+ because of the slipper clutch?

Re: r1 stunting?

Yamaha Sponsors Bill Dixon

Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A. is pleased to announce a new sponsorship agreement with world renowned stunt rider Bill Dixon. Dixon is widely considered one of the Nation's top freestyle riders and is best known for his monster stoppies and backwards wheelies. Dixon has also won nearly every event he has entered for the past two years, including the 2008 Stuntwars World Championship Series. Bill also holds the unofficial world record for longest stoppie at nearly 1200 feet and is looking to eclipse that mark as well as several other Guinness records on both his new Yamaha YZF-R1 and R6 sportbikes.
"Yamaha was a natural choice for me," said Bill, "I grew up on Yamahas and am excited to see what this new relationship will do not only for me and for Yamaha, but for the growing sport of Freestyle Street Extreme. For sure I'm looking to put Yamaha on top of the box for the 2009 XDL National Championship Series!" Dixon's predictions come as no surprise to Yamaha Motor Corporation's Kevin Foley who echoed Bill's sentiments, saying "We have been watching this sport closely for a few years and are excited about our rider choice. The time is right and everything came together very easily. We look forward to working with a champion rider like Dixon."
